STREET ELEMENTS MAGAZINE delivers the unfiltered reality of the streets. We begin by exploring the deliberate impact of the CRACK epidemic on urban communities, which has caused immense suffering for countless families. As a convicted felon with experiences of both state and federal prison, I have come to understand that the system is inherently stacked against us. Therefore, it is my duty to reveal the truth about the streets. It's important to remember that the streets show no love to anyone.
April 22, 1995 The Hillsborough State Attorney's Office filed formal charges Friday against two men implicated in the shootings of two Tampa police officers last month. The man investigators say fired the assault rifle, 20-year-old Antonio Neal, was charged last week with a dozen counts ranging from attempted murder of a law enforcement officer to trafficking in cocaine. Police say Neal, Gary Tippins and John Hollis were robbery suspects the night of March 23 when police began to chase the car in which the three were in the back seat. Two women who were in the front of the car, the driver and a passenger, later told police they wanted to stop, but the men threatened them. After the women bailed out, one of the men took over the wheel and slammed into a parked bus. They all got out. Tippins, 19, was arrested near the scene. Hollis, 17, was later arrested at his parents' home. But police say Neal shot at two officers in a patrol car and later wounded two other officers who were pursuing him. Officer Michael Vigil suffered serious internal injuries. Officer Kevin Howell was shot in both legs. Both are recovering at Tampa General Hospital. Police say that in the search that followed, Neal also aimed his gun at another officer and broke into a shed before he was arrested. Investigators found 44 grams of cocaine, a small amount of marijuana and a pipe in his bag. Friday, both Tippins and Hollis were charged with armed trafficking in cocaine, armed kidnapping of the two women, carjacking, four counts of attempted murder of the two officers in the car and Vigil and Howell and being felons in possession of firearms. Hollis also was charged with fleeing and eluding a police officer.

i had just moved to Tampa 22nd and Fletcher (Cross Fletcher) !! Man, i was 18 years old, and at that moment i knew Tampa wasn't nothing to play with, I remember this vividly. That's the year Warren Sapp came to the Buc's. i always new there was more to these guys stories than what the media posted. this was good background story. i told my wife about this story a couple months back, i have so many Tampa story's.

New Jack City came out when I was 10 years old....completely altered my mind state. I never wanted to be a Pookie and Ice T's song New Jack Hustler embedded in my head how not to become "Pookie" by being "Nino" instead. When I became of age I jumped right into drug dealing through the influences of movies and music. Songs like Dopeman by NWA and such. As an adult I now know how strong an effect music and imagery has on children. You never know what may intrigue you as a youth until you are exposed to it.

@@deetaylor334There were definitely a higher structure of black folks that worked hand in hand in making sure they stayed on a different level than the rest of us.

@@MrLenroc82 so you think black people are behind the demise of our own people? Dig a little deeper

@@MrLenroc82 I was influenced by the music, groups and movies as well. It's not happenstance or coincidence this music/entertainment has negatively influenced an entire generation. This was and is spiritual warfare on our people. But it's not rocket science. Without the artists making the music or without the people supporting (buying/streaming) the music and movies; there is no influence. 'Black' fathers are the first and last line of defense for our families. Shalom
