Hi everyone,
My name is Tracy and I garden in Zone 4/5 (maybe zone 5/6 judging by our last winter) in Toronto, Canada.
You are watching a video of my husband, Loc, pruning all the evergreen topiaries in our front garden - Boxwood, Dwarf Alberta Spruce, and White Cedar Globe. 💚🪴💚 Loc enjoys and looks towards to pruning topiaries every spring. Pruning evergreen topiaries one job I do not feel comfortable doing and is grateful that Loc takes over.
Thank you so kindly for taking some of your precious time to watch my video. Take care & stay safe!
Happy (spring) gardening & see you next time! 🪴💚

I just bought one of these and dont know where to put it I was thinking of taking it back, but after this I may keep it ;) my husband doesnt like spiders so I"m concerned. I am thinking put it in in front of the house, we had huge aspen trees that died so we had to cut those but new ones are coming in and would hate for this to take over, I wonder if it's ok to put it close to aspen trees.

What other evergreen types have you used to make topiaries? I have 6ft dwarf albertas in my front yard that are getting too big even though i trim them a little bit each year. I am so tempted to make something funky out of them but can’t find much info on doing so (i bet it’s bc it is not recommended?) Secondly everyone be so careful with those power sheers!! Unlike the old type of heavy two handed hedge trimmers this is so light weight it is VERY easy to get your other hand in the way. I unfortunately ended up in stitches on two fingers a few years ago bc i was careless for a split second. Thank you!

Hello! I just recently bought a Dwarf Alberta Spruce and was wondering how you keep those so healthy looking! Mine has some spots where it has no green, and was looking for some tips!
@TracysHomeGarden
@TracysHomeGarden 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Reanna! Dwarf Alberta spruce needs a lot of water but thrive in very well draining soil….and a little acidity in the soil as well. At planting, you should give it a little bit of soil sulfur. The planters where I have them as centrepieces - they get 4L of water every 2 days…but the soil is very well draining so they are loving it. They don’t like “wet feet” so if the soil is clay then they will be unhappy and May slowly turn brown with some dead spots here and there….which usually happens during winter (or late spring) when we get a lot of snow that melts. Hope that helps.
