It is not always. This video is referring to entertainment as bad habits. While if done too much, they do in fact become that but so does everything, even doing "good things". It does good to you to take a break and entertain yourself by going out with friends, playing video games etc, especially after a long day, if you just don't do it too much. Also one thing I have noticed is that if I do what I believe was referred to as "stealth learning" in this video (meaning watching tutorials, reading manuals and other ways of learning something without actually trying to learn it 100%), I get burned out waaaay faster and doing it becomes painful even tho it was really fun before. That's why it is just important to have breaks and sometimes just do literally nothing.

NoFap is pseudoscience. There is no evidence that nofap helps you with anything. NoFap claims are worse than what flat Earthers say. Only a person that slept in biology classes in school can become NoFap. NoFap was started as a sarcastic joke by some kid and it was then taken seriously by uneducated, guillible people and religious crazies. You can't be addicted to masturbation In order for something to be called an addiction it needs to have a widrawal effect, it needs to make your brain physically dependent on it and it needs to interfere with your normal daily functioning. Masturbation doesn't do either one of these three things. Also, there is nothing wrong with having a lot of sexual partners before marriage. In order for behavior to be immoral it needs to have negative effect on society. If everyone has a lot of sexual partners before marriage and uses contraceptives there are no unwanted pregnancies, there is no spreading of diseases there is no negative effect on society. Have sex, if you want to have a lot of sexual partners before marriage, or if that simply happens because you break up often then go for it. If you want to masturbate go for it. There is nothing wrong with either of these things

To people that are inspired by this video. Remember that quitting takes multiple tries. I almost guarantee you will fail breaking your addiction for months. As long as you try again and again, you will get further and further. The key is to do your best to forget it exists. Whenever a thought of engaging in your addiction again enters your mind, do your best to block it out and distract yourself. This will teach your brain to forget it and the number of thoughts related to your addiction will start to decrease. At the start you will more than likely not be able to handle the torrent of thoughts and feelings, but the more you practice resisting that you will get stronger. It is okay to fail, make sure you do not discredit the work you did before your relapse because that work is the MOST important part for beating your addiction. That was when things were hardest and you fought anyway. The more you fight the stronger you get and the easier resisting the thoughts and compulsions become. Eventually you will have the required willpower to fight off those thoughts as they lessen over time. This leads to place where you are stronger than your thoughts. There is a tipping point where your thoughts lessen and your willpower is strong enough that you will win the battle every time. In so doing, you also get stronger at resisting other things. I found that when I quit porn I also quit biting my nails at the same time. I found myself wanting to find other things to resist like over-indulging in KZbin videos. It becomes a muscle in itself to build over time and the results are astonishing. The practice of resisting our desires helps us become more conscious of our subconscious decisions thereby giving us more control over our actions and the future of our lives. I also completely agree with the idea of "Work without purpose" that is one of the hardest things to do especially growing up in these times. The way I phrased it when I found it was "do things for no reason" crazy that we came to the exact same idea lol. Probably cuz it is just so important and true.

i think consistency is also one of the key in becoming better but also one of the hardest to maintain, you get better in programming if you constantly do programming activities, the hard part is making it enjoyable especially if you're bombarded by errors while you're still a beginner (im still even struggling at this part)

consistency without having fun doing it , leads you to a burnout(or maybe just for me). Im currently in my 2nd week not coding anything because I've decided to take a break and learned a new hobby(gardening XD). In my opinion, consistency is really hard when you experience no pressure and fun when practicing. All I had was practicing to code and solve programming problems when making projects but once I took a break, I begun to notice other things(outside world). Just try to go outside in your breaktime or dayoffs and forget about programming.

imo i feel like figuring out first and knowing yourself would make everything just much easier. if you're serious about something just don't talk to anyone about it, do it yourself and grind. cuz i learned as soon as i fking talk about my plans or passions either the whole universe collapses on me or the pressure builds up so much that the passion and excitement you've had in the beginnign disappears so so quickly. delayed gratification is something he mentioned, (still not there yet) but took me like 25 years to learn this... keep up the discipline and do NOT lose your focus and goal. if you have to write them all down, put them on your walls or monitor or wherever you spend your most time on! just don't punish yourself if you make mistakes or "repalse", there are many many tips and tricks out there but they only can function once you know how you work and how your brain works, it's individual and unique to yourself so find the way and don't lose focus! wishing you all good luck♥

What a great coincidence or not. I'm re evaluating my career as a software dev after being unemployed. And realizing I'm wasting a lot of time on other things in my life. Delayed gratification and controlling your dopamine centers is so important for growing in any field that requires hard work. It's all about the long term. Small steps every day will lead into big things in the future. Just be very consistent, and persistent.

“Nothing makes sense until one day it clicks, then you hit a ceiling and repeat” This is very true, I started self taught CS and going from needing to constantly searching for javascript syntax and don’t understand a lick what OOP is, to coding in Java, shell bash, working with cloud and infra and everything makes sense. Until I hit a new wall and started learning it from scratch. This very sentence describes the whole learning process, CS is very vast and when you stumbled on a new field, you feel like a toddler tumbling around.

Amazing video, I'm a Christian and was always told what I should/shouldn't do growing up but it took me until I was in college to finally understand why these things were so important. I'm currently doing the self-taught route to become a SWE and I'd say not entertaining immediate pleasure definitely helped me a ton with not being too discouraged when my code wouldn't work. And it feels SO much better to delay gratification for something that's actually worthwhile (finally benching a certain amount of weight, being able to code your dream project, etc.) than settle for a quick fix that won't actually make me feel much better in the long run.

Every person who works 40 hours a week and doesn't have small kids has several hours per day to spend however they want. Everyone has 5 minutes to spend on masturbation. Everyone who doesn't have small kids has several hours to spend with friends per day, to have sex and to masturbate. As an Indian i want to chip in to add something here. In India since ancient times sexual abstinence has been recommended for bachelors. There's a word called 'brahmacharya' which is used but to denote a way of life that stresses on self awareness of mind, control of one's speech, sexual absitnence , balanced diet, anger control, religious education and many many more things. Unfortunately in today's hyper sexualized word, only the sexual abstinence aspect is renamed as NoFap is being popularised while so many other aspects of 'brahmacharya' way of life are discarded. Sexual abstinence is important but it has to be in tandem with so many other things one should do. For example - taking control of the words one speaks is super important for a a student who follows brahmacharya. If one constantly speaks F word or sexual lingos daily and tries no fap , it's not useful. It's not about sex, it's about are controlling the things we can control? Brahmacharya is about that. Where as NoFap is reductive which stresses only on sexual aspect

This is very true, my approach was opposite though, I learned the hard way of what addictions do to people, and live a straight edge lifestyle now, including the disgusting porn industry. In 2017 I fell into the tech world because a lot of my friends careers are in it, and I stopped hanging out with them - a lot of because of alcohol being so normal to them, but I wanted to prove to myself that I can learn it too, and connect with them in a different way. It soon taught me everything you mentioned here, and I have consistently been learning since. It is a beautiful learning world in the cyber space. Hahaha.

People think is only nofap but is not! This addiction is not "I'm in 10th day. 14th day..." This is not about the 3065th day. This is about removing something really bad from your life! It is! It really is! And when you realize, this is just a surface problem. There are so many feelings repressed and you don't know why

Assuming one is single, how does one do NoFap for life? It seems like something only an Asexual can achieve.
@mikeehxz
@mikeehxz Жыл бұрын
@@o-...-.-...-..0473 "NoFap" in the general sense means abstinence from pornography. There is also abstinence from pornography and masturbation ... Besides, when you get to the point of the fall like I did, nothing else makes sense. Even NoFap, not messing up, not anything... You don't even know where the error is. You can't see what good could happen. If you consider porn or masturbating to look at instagram photos a problem, then you will see that it is only a very superficial problem. Because the problem is not having a girlfriend. Not having that 2-week vacation in a different country. Not having someone who cares about you and vents whatever it takes for hours and nights at a time... You don't have someone who is concerned about your well-being. With everything. Soon you will see that behind this addiction is still a great wave of loneliness that you were hiding and trying to give up. It won't bring you incredible benefits and "as everyone says". It's just a problem you don't think about anymore. That's it

Never done nofap, but I learned this lesson back when I was 14. My uncle bought weights and he would work out in the back-every day after school I would come home and work out with him because he was into the same stuff I was and it was fun talking to him, and we would play video games afterwards. After a while of doing this, when I got into to sophomore year in high school, I started to notice that girls were looking at me more, and a few even came up to me and talked to me-something that has never happened to me. Then I realized that all that time just wanting to hang out with my uncle and play video games had an unexpected effect-didn’t take much longer to figure out that everything in life is about consistency, as long as you don’t stop you’ll get there eventually.

Very true. When your only worry is an event in the future like an exam, you forget to live in the present. When you're too forcused on the future, you feel devastated by present hardship. You become even more prone to addiction. When you are addicted, you can't commit to anything. It's a self feeding cycle. Corporates are exploiting our tendency for addiction with stuff like KZbin Shorts, Tiktok, dating apps, free porn, MMO games, freemium mobile games, recreational drugs, caffeine (including chocolate), alcohol, MSG. Addiction is why so many 18 year olds are struggling with becoming adults. We as a society have not learned to live with so much stimulation.

It was 13 months ago that I decided to go clean. At first it felt like an uphill battle, every day more difficult than the last, but after a few months it started getting easier. I used to be unable to go for more than 2 weeks without "help"/watching, but now I feel fully in control and like I can go on forever. I have self control, I feel clean, I don't obssess over it, and I can control where my eyes go and last longer in bed. It's all upside. Besides, even tbe most beautiful woman still looks better with her clothes on. Some things that helped were completely disconnecting from anything that would even remind me if "adult" entertainment, including even podcasts discussing why it's terrible and harmful, or game reviews for adult games (even without any screenshots), dating podcasts that feature 304 guests, or anything else. Another thing that's helpful is an S/O who's willing to lend a helping hand when things get too tough. But the most important was a firm unwavering resolution to never give in to desire or temptation and never compromise with it, tet still be forgiving of mistakes and accidents and being vigilant and open to learning and adapting. Having a goal of lasting at least 100 days (because that's what I heard is required to establish a new habit) is also helpful. Now I'm free, I'm in control. Having a dry spell doesn't even bother me in the least and now my wife seems more eager than me, when before it was the other way around. It's great.

@@RyanYTTV Thanks for the encouragement. I never thought of it as a grind, but now that you say that I feel kind of awesome. Another thing that helps is having other stuff going on to keep my mind occupied. In my case it's my awesome job. It felt really good when one day I realized that hey, tomorrow night is our monthly honeymoon and I completely forgot about it, then proceeded to get back to work and forget about it until the next evening. And of course being so not addicted to it anymore that I can simply do without for as long as necessary without feeling like I'm suffering. But talking about it makes it harder to forget about it, and harder to wait.

I think the major problem is the pornography -, the amount of content that is available and how easy you can find it. Literally just some words and clicks. Non-masturbating is something against our own body - I remember that I started masturbating when I was like 5-6 years old and NOBODY teach me about it... If you have a girlfriend or is married (my case), masturbating without pornography once a week at least is something good for us, it keeps our testosteron levels, you can train to not ejaculate so fast when doing sex and come on... half of the time our girls just doesnt want to have sex...

Hey guys, I just want to say what is working for me because I know it’s hard. I came to a realization that watching porn is unnatural and deplorable. But here’s what really hit me. For thousands of years, all throughout human existence, no one would masterbait watching another man screw a woman. Not only that, but how unnatural is it to look at a screen which only recently invented, and pleasure yourself staring at a virtual screen. Then I realized, what if, by any chance, someone was watching me at all times. Possibly God, my ancestors, anyone or anything. Would I be proud of this action? Or would I be ashamed? I began listening to an audiobook on how to quit porn free here in yt and learned even more about the addiction and how it is a real time experiment that never existed before. We are the porn addict Guinea pigs so to speak. First ever in human history. Ultimately, I live my life as if I’m being watched, as if, I will be judged for my actions when it’s over. And this makes it so much easier for me, I didn’t quit anything, I escaped porn. I am free.
