Goood Job!! What you doing is good for us weekend worriers. I just bought a Sightseer 2005. 29' And it came with the same motor 454 8.1 Workhorse and with one video I am learning so much that makes me feel safe while I am driving The RV. Keep doing what you doing!!

Thank you .. its comments like yours that keep me motivated to make them.. On a technical note although the 8.1 is loosely based off the old 454 its actually a 496 cubic inch engine. Let me know if I can be of any help my cell is 606-875-0125 Kevin

How did you get 2 scan gauges to work and can you monitor eight different functions on your ScanGauge
@ktoutdoor
@ktoutdoor 3 жыл бұрын
Yes I can watch 8 different functions at the same time but if you do you have to set the data ping rate to the lowest setting or you will get a error on the dash cluster. Did you have to go under the engine to install this temp sensor at all? We just bought an 01 forest river windsong and it has this exact engine. There’s only 18400 miles on the rig, so I’m a bit skeptical as I heard that less miles on the engine isn’t always a “good thing” (not sure how true this is) and would like to get this sensor installed.

You have options I mounted my sensor in the cylinder heads water jacket from the wheel well but you can also mount to cylinder head from above call or text me if you have any questions. 606-875-0125 Kevin

2004 HR Admiral 30PDD P32 Temp gauge is not working, actually the needle on the gauge sits below it's normal cold, not-running position , (if that means anything) tested the Temp sensor, it passed, no engine codes. runs fine as usual. The instrument cluster is now disassembled on my kitchen table... needle seems to move fine. Has sat for almost year, but started it every week or so just to keep the batteries charged. I assume that the ECM is getting it's info from the sending unit, though the gauge is not. What can I do to get the gauge to work. I think it is OK to operate and drive, but would be nice to know the temp when pulling hills with a TOAD. Any suggestions?? Perhaps a wiring diagram so I can test the continuity from the gauge to the sending unit??

Have a question about the radiator fan , when driving the clutch seems to be working fine so very little noise at highway speed , but , off once the fan clutch does turn the radiator fan at lower speeds the sound is like a 737 at takeoff power , do you know of any available replacement fans that would run quieter and fit a W22 with an 8.1? Thank You.
@ktoutdoor
@ktoutdoor 3 жыл бұрын
I only know of the OEM fan and I would stick with it.. the way our acts is when we first pull out the fan may roar but with in a 1/4 mile its all quit / normal fan sound.. Now if I start to pull a hill on a warm day and the temp. gets over 205 then I will here it roar but only for a short time. At what temps are you hearing the load fan noise.

@@ktoutdoor Hello Kevin , Seems anytime or temp, for example a cold start we get a huge roar from the radiator fan , then driving up to about the time the trans shifts into second gear, The shape and design of the fan blades are basically very crude. I am somewhat surprised there hasn't been more demand from Workhorse owners for a quieter replacement fan, Thanks again !

Do you realize that submerged temp sensors need to be submerged to be accurate? That's the reason the OE temp sensors don't indicate over temp due to coolant loss until it's too late. The coolant no longer surrounds the sensor, the gauge will actually drop until the engine casting or air inside becomes hot enough to cause the sensor to show the increasing (but inaccurate - low) temperature. You were doing fine with the sensor mounted to the surface. That sensor appeared to be inserted into an electrical connector with a large surface area that made it susceptible to ambient air cooling causing it to fluctuate. Possibly just covering the outside exposed portion of the terminal with a coating of silicone sealer may have cured the condition. I haven't watched the entire video (lengthy) but if you haven't considered it I would check your attached sensor vs the OE sensor as reported to the ECU by way of a scan device to determine if and/or how much variance there is, if any, between the surface and submerged temperatures and adjust the alarm level accordingly.

Thank you for contributing Carl, Yes I track it closely the ECM temp reading match within 2 or 3 degrees thru out the temp range up to 220 as we where setting in traffic last year. I keep a close eye on it. .. I'm always experimenting ..lol
