How not to change your transmission

At our last event, Jay's car was plagued with transmission problems, namely his car popping out of 2nd gear. For a track like Apple Valley Speedway, this can be troublesome. Today, we attempt to change out this bad transmission for one that hopefully works. MERCH: realize-jp.net

Tip from my friend with these transmissions you gotta lift em sideways then once it clears the starter housing clears the trans tunnel you turn it and insert the trans.

We did, as you can see by the sketchy orange ratchet strap pulling the back of the engine towards the 240Z. Jay has solid Cusco mounts so it was pretty rigid.

This is easily the most frustrated I've been watching a video. Should have just laid on your back and tossed the trans in like a man. *bangs on trans tunnel. You know these engines are designed for these cars right? Lolz. Good stuff tho. Had me laughing and yelling at the TV.

It's not really about manpower with sr transmissions, I've gone through about 5 and it's about finding that 1 stupid fucking angle where the bell housing magically clears the tunnel. I've been able to get them on with the whole 90 degree angle trick without banging in the tunnel. But even with tilting the motor, lowering the subframe, etc. it still takes a WHILE. Last time I did it I banged out the tunnel and it went right on, I wish I'd done that sooner. So yeah these engines are designed for these cars but they're also put in with the trans already mated to the engine.
