Is your Volvo P80 door handle broken? Is the child lock stuck on? Who you gonna call? Geoff and Phil! But only if you're desperate, because after you've watched this video, you'll want us a LONG WAY from your car and any tools.
Anyway, in this video we're doing some more prep to the Benidorm car... Contains quite a lot of laughter, a very bad joke about burning EVs and a lot of road noise. Sorry about that.

A fireman friend if mine years ago said he would never use child locks on a car. He had been to accidents where the outside door handles were smashed and they couldn't get the chiidren out. Teach your kids not to touch doors when they are in a car unless you tell them to.

If you have ever had a small child open the door at 50mph, as I have you might think otherwise. the door opened but the force of the wind promptly slammed it closed. a friend had their child do the same in a taxi. scaring them all and the taxi driver vowed to put the child locks on every time she had a child in the back.

Also, if the car is on fire the child will die if the child lock is on preventing the firemen getting the child out. for goodness sake how did we all survive to this point? Teach your child to leave the door alone.

Break the door card so you can open the door so you can break the child lock because the outside doorhandle is broken. You could have left it alone to "not fix " it. What you actually did was break more stuff.

Last frozen rear latch ive had, that wouldnt open from the outside or inside, I poured brake fluid from the inside, with the panel off, to soften, corrode and penetrate the crud, worked wonders. This was a 1991 chevy caprice, but a latch is a latch. Wipe it off, or if you dont care, don't. I let it sit for a day or so, its gonna work. Wd 40 doesnt do much on latches, need corrosive stuff to eat the rust. Mechanic here. Mine was an old cab, and the child locks were on both sides, so i had two doors that wouldnt open. I passed safety by removing the rear seats, so they cant complain the passengers cant exit, its just me driving....

My lad has had the worst luck with a car, he passed his test a couple months ago, bought a 2012 corsa for 2 grand because it only had 64k miles on it, the front had had a "little bump" looked very light, took it to get fixed n the garage said the front end was twisted an need straightening, cost £800, then the suspension went, another £500, it's been broke down twice, got it fixed, now it's broke down again, it's cost "ME" (Bank of Dad) about £3.5k for in my opinion is a £1k value car, its a heap, and im heading for broke. I have had enough of that damn car. I hate those damn corsa's.

@@aeroearth I know man, I fully agree, I told him to buy a golf or a fiesta, after he got the corsa I read up about them and found they are a nightmare for problems with fuel pump, crank censor, ecu, coil pack, but most alarming is they are known for overhearing and head gasket, not so bad if you're a mechanic, but if you're not they can be a nightmare of a car. Wish I would have stuck to mechanics at collage, but it was in the later 80s so probably no use in todays cars.

If you're going for a sunroof, what's wrong with fitting a Webasto? You can still get the concertina style, and they're a bespoke unit, so made and fitted to your own requirements. When closed, it looks like a vinyl roof.

@@GeoffBuysCarsMy wife and I collected an interesting old car yesterday and drove home over a hundred miles through typical mid May “4 seasons” weather. It was a hoot. Wait, mid May is usually perfect. Not monsoons, near hurricanes and a hot sunny afternoon, all in one day. It’s nuts. On the way up by train (took ages because the only high speed line was inoperative around Ashford International, we took a detour which added 90 minutes to an originally 95 minute journey), we chatted loudly about the sky, asking rhetorically “So what season does that look like?” Answer: Costa Rica. We’ve never seen the Kent countryside so green and luxuriant. Several other people heard but nobody said a peep. It wasn’t just the trains. Our main railway station has two foot high weeds growing up through the sleepers and stone chips, all along the platform. The siding on the shelters along the platform look like they were last painted more than twenty years ago. The main roads between Stevenage & Canterbury varied from billiard table smooth to pre-EU Hungary. In places, hazardous for motorcycles. I would not ride in the dark anymore. Way too many edge traps even on motorways. You can’t have that in the overtaking lane on a wet night. You’ve a substantial chance of being flung from the machine at speed and killed. I used to enjoy summer night rides. They’re over. Our country’s infrastructure is a bloody disgrace.

So why did you not just use a Steel Ruler and push it down on the outside of the glass to unlock the door? Most people think you need to pull up, but most cars are made when you need to push down ! Yes, I got paid to open the number of cars that people locked their keys inside over the years .
