Did the front tip of the skis catch the ground and drag her down? Maybe spring load the skis so the tips always point up a bit once airborne . Great winter effort though. Onward and Upwards!

@@TheBigO-k6g When you watch it slow motion, literally frame at a time, you will see it lifted off perfectly. Immediately after, the rear skis tilted so the back of them were touching the wing. This massive drag pitched the aircraft down and into the ground. All over in the blink of an eye!

Am l glad l came across you two brothers. Nothing phases both of you, such a good attitude to life. I will be flying (hopefully) in the spring when it is a bit warmer. The entertainment doesn't end with you guys, that made me chuckle. When Capn Blaz showed the jet in the back of the car you could see the opposing ski arrangement and I figured this will be a fun landing... but here you surprised me. That was one of the shortest flights you have had so far. And I wasn't wrong, the landing was spectacular in classic Petrincic Bros fashion. Good vid gents, I salute you!

Now this was crazy! Such a beautiful morning and well prepared for a good flight and then because of such a little detail the plane went down pretty hard. If you replay in slow motion and high resolution it’s clearly happening because the ski’s went downwards just after take off and a fraction of a second later the plane goes down. What a thing to happen and good thing only the nose of the plane was damaged. It’s really a tough little plane! Greetings to Slovenia my friends

The skis tilted down at the front and acted as a brake... and pitched the jet right down. Don't use a string. Use nylon fishing wire at the back of the skis to limit down movement at the back of the ski. At the front of the ski use elastic cord - a stretchy string - the type used in crafts. By using elastic cord, the front of the ski will be pulled up a tiny bit and will push the back of the ski down. This is good for landing where you want to touch down on the back of the ski first. With the back of the ski limiting movement, the front can't move too far up and create other flap type problems. The DU-BRO skis have a spring which control the pitch of the skis. Looking forward to your next test. Cheers from Canada.

From what i remember, when ur putting the spring on/in, the tag end of the spring goes in the rear of the ski(s). Supposed to keep the rearward part of the skis down 30 degrees. If its the other way, down in front, it can stick in the snow & ice. TOO, u can wax, wd40, etc the bottom of the skis so itll slide easier. 👍😁

Oh man!! She raced off fast, didnt take too much damage. I pulled the rubber nose off my habu and installed carbon rods going back thru the whole front end. Then re glued rubber nose and carbon stripps in the top of the nose and she's rock hard, won't snap off like yours did. Also, even tho you did install the springs backwards, you could cut pyramid shaped clear plastic and zip tie this to your struts and tape/glue, to the skis and this would keep the ski braced, front and back and level in flight. Might be worth it, with somthing so fast. I thought you were a boss for taking the corner at 30miles per hour, in your car!!!😲😝👌then I realized it would be kilometers per hour!! Haha, still fast for the ice. I did somthing fun today in a bit of a blizzard! I modded my eflite 1.2m june night p-51mustang fighter. Running now a 1260kv 15size motor from a v900(instead of the stock 850kv, the eflite 1260 kv is capable of much higher watts, as well). Paired with an 80 amp predator, fms, 6s capable esc(stock, if you don't remmember, is limited to 4s). Running a 2200mah 6s setup. I have a 6s habu and the p51 is making it look slow!! I also have a v900 and a v1200 and the p51 sounds about like the v1200 and is nearly as fast!!! Today would be its 6th flight set up like this. It comes down barely warm. The air frame is taking the speed with no signs of stress and flight characteristics are amazing, locked in. I'm running a 9x9E 2 blade apc prop(stock, scale 4 blade prop is way too much draw and will smoke this setup). This set up is great on 4s, as well, very fast. Ive power tested this all on my gt power meter, and a 9x9 prop is the limit here. Static tests are hot but this set up flys fine as long as its treated nice, staying away from long hard pulls, especially verticle!! Amazingly fast, I recommend this mod. I also fly a v900 motor in my fms 1100mm zero fighter but 4s only as 6s wont really fit and 8x8 prop with 60amp esc like v900, performance is still 100mph pluss!! On a 4s 2200mah. Any way cant wait to see your 6s habu on skis, again. Update, performance limit with 1260kv motor in p51 is 5s. On 6s the motor is emitting a crackling noise and is over voltage, apparently. 5s is the top and is very fast. 4s is also great. I will be searching for a motor that will handle 6s. I'm , now static testing this with a new v900 motor and its not emitting crackling noises anymore on 6s. So most likely will be flying this again on 6s, just very judiciously.

Awesome plane eh? I do love the upgrade from the sts. So sad to see the crash though, but thanks to your experience, I was made aware and able to solve this problem with the springs beforehand. It flies like it has landing flaps deployed with these runners on and with so much uplift, acrobatics are quite challenging. But, it most certainly was a lot of fun flying off the ice and snow.

@@PetrincicBrosRC You’re not the only one to prang an aeroplane today…. We had a beautiful day here in the UK, so I decided to go fly. I launched my model straight into the wind which, I quickly discovered to my horror, was the same direction as the low winter sun. I was immediately blinded. Seconds later, I heard the inevitable BANG as my plane crashed back to terra firma. I found it in the next field, standing vertically, its nose buried right up to the wings in the soft mud. It took me an hour to clean up the fuselage and all the electronics but, fortunately, only the engine mount was destroyed. Another lesson learned!
