I bought a ranch style house with a huge basement. Water proofed it, insulated it, drywalled it and did some dyi sound panels which make a huge difference. And since it's part of the house, my girlfriend pays half.

I know... I have to get myself more LED lights! The neons in the jam space mess with the camera’s shutter speed and flicker on the camera so I turned them off for that video. Bad idea haha! I think once I get myself more lights I’ll remake the video. Thanks for the feedback Bobby!

My band has a very clean setup that I would like to tip about! Might not be for everyone’s taste but we love the cleanliness and sleekness of it We have a drum kit, two monitor speakers on the floor and a mixing desk where we go direct with bass & guitar and plug in microphones For reference we are 3 members. 1 monitor speaker is for the drummer and other is for me and the basist The gear we use is firstly a pedalrig for me and the basist that goes direct in to a Zoom Livetrak with Alto TS308 speakers as monitors. This mixing desk is amazing because it allows you to multitrack record your rehearsal with great quality (if you mic up the drums as well) can be recorded to computer or SD card in the unit itself What I love about this rig is if you ever need go bring all your gear to a show for whatever reason it may be, you will not have to carry more than the drums and pa 😌

What I'm missing in this video is tips about how to make the room more sound proof? I can see you have some panels on the walls to reduce echo. Can you maybe elaborate on this?
@PatFlanigan4 жыл бұрын
Hey! I didn't build the room, I rent it in a building that has several of those rooms and that was treated, so I can't really help you on that front. I know that the walls a doubled with some space between them and that the floors are raised, but that's all I know about the building, sorry!

@@PatFlanigan Have you tryed the EHX Octave Multiplexer? I would like to know your opinion on it. I just bought one and I'm not sure if its gonna fit my needs :/
@PatFlanigan5 жыл бұрын
I have tried one before! Though I don’t own one, a friend of mine has one and I’ve played with it a couple of times. The thing I didn’t love about it was the fact that it’s monophonic. I wanted to have a bit of octave up and down at the same time and have it real clean without any glitching and the POG was the best choice for that. But for bass, or a more vintage glitchy octave pedal, the Multiplexer is a good choice!

My friends and I are considering getting a one of these and having the different bands we are in use it, what would you recommend us to look out for to find the best spot?
@PatFlanigan Жыл бұрын
I'd say a respecting landlord who knows what they're involved in and takes care of the building! Other than that, the thicker the walls, the better! Getting both those things is damn near impossible, though!

Great video! Any advice on areas to look in? Industrial spaces? What is exterior noise like? I have a house but my neighbors are not very happy when we go full volume. Any advice?
@PatFlanigan4 жыл бұрын
First thing i’d do is look for acrual rehearsal spots in your area. Otherwise probably industrial buildings that will accept high noise levels/musicians. From that point your job will be to make it sound decent, for which wall panels and carpet will help!
@undercrackers564 жыл бұрын
Yeah! Consider yourself an expert after finding and setting up a place to practice in an English city (UK). Houses are tiny. Garages (if you have one) are joined to the neighbours house so you cannot make noise. Pubs, clubs and cafes don't have space and don't want you anyway. My boss used to let me practice in his industrial unit until the business closed. Now, the only place I can find is £30 per hour (cheap). Amature, part-time and wannabee bands cannot justify that kind of regular expense.
