I feel it's something everyone forgets, not a lot of time has passed since the end of KH2, going into DDD, and Sora's journey, Kairi and Lea's training, and Riku's search in KH3. Even when all seven guardians were brought together, they only had a day of rest, they didn't plan on strategies or what to really do.

I knew that he was somewhere around 16 maybe 17 I didn't think any older, I can see where some of the confusion came from though, also just with the fact of his model in KH4 we've gone though a lot of games where Sora really doesn't change much at all, I think the photorealistic style helped to add to a bit of the confusion because this was a HUGE jump for Sora graphically, so, although realistically you don't usually change too much in 1 year at least on the outside, the photorealism and detail to features probably kicked peeoples minds into overdrive.

I mean as time goes about he may just become wiser and more mature as eventually he must fight the Master of Masters and the Foretellers as well as Luxu aka Xigbar. Even though he choose the path to go on these adventures, the stability of everything was at stake when he begun his journey. He choose to put things right and restore a balance that was needed, of which Young Eraqus understood when playing those chess battles with Young Xehanort as Darkness can't overtake everything at the same time nor can Light overshine or rather be dominant in every heart. Like with Riku you gotta understand your darkness and take control of it especially when staying in the light.

Thanks HMK. I always felt that the gap between the main number KH games was a few weeks to a month, and thus was confused when everyone else online say the gap is years worth. Nothing I've seen in the story its self points to there being years worth of time between the games, and the adventures them self couldn't have taken longer than a month, so I'm glad this video is out there

A lot of people tend to get the ages mixed up because they overestimate the amount of time in universe the games take. KHIII is a few months apart from KHII AT MOST. ReCoded takes place probably weeks after KHII, then probably a month after that is Dream Drop Distance, and KHIII picks up right after Dream Drop Distance’s ending. KHII and KHIII take place in the same year. Thus making Sora still fifteen in KHIII and becoming sixteen in KHIV with the time skip in ReMind DLC along with the week that Sora was passed out in KHIV.

Let me know your thoughts on my theory. Kingdom Hearts was released on March 28th, 2002 Sora's Birthday is March 28th. Riku's Birthday is unkown. In Japan school starts at 6yrs old. In Japan, the school year starts in April. In Japan, the school year ends in March. If Sora and Riku are 14 and 15 Respectively in KH1 and day one is Sora's birthday, and their island friends are all in the same grade at school, based on KH2, then that means that Riku was born between May 1st and March 28th. An 11-month timeframe. Sora's shortest adventure was 14 worlds done in 27 days with no travel time between worlds as evidenced by the 27 days into 358/2 days being a Chain of memories. 2 days per world with short versions of the original world's story. We can soundly work with Sora spending a minimum of 3 days to a week in each original world making it 42-98 days ~56 days + 4 for total travel time between all of them. It took Sora 3 days to walk to castle oblivion after KH1 and we also know Xemnas took Roxas from twilight town and gave him his new name during those 3 days time. So, we can safely say KH1 took 60 days, 3 days between KH and CoM. KHCoM took 27 days and did not start until after Roxas was brought into Org XIII making it an even 30 + 60 = 90 days. When Sora falls asleep it has been a minimum of 90 days since March 28th his birthday. Sora is a minimum of 15 by KH2 and 331 days have passed since the end of CoM due to 358/2 days' timeline. Making 421 days so far. Add 7 more days for Roxas' KH2 intro. Putting him at 421+7 = 428 days since March 28th KH1. So Sora is 15yrs and 2 months old while Riku is 16. This means Riku was born between May 27th and March 28th narrowing his Birthday to a 10-month timeframe. We know Struggle tourny is a once-a-year thing that happens at the end of summer. summer ends in August, 93 days after Sora's Bday. Sora takes part in the next struggle tournament before DDD so we have to assume one of two things at this point. 1: Roxas' "summer vacation" wasn't actually during summer, just in the simulation or else Sora would be 16 in DDD. 2: Roxas' summer vacation was during the correct time of year which according to the number of days that have passed is correct. Sora takes part in a struggle tourny before KH2 ends making him 15yrs and 4 months (option 1) or 16yrs and 4 months (option 2) by the end of KH2, depending on which you chose. Now regardless of which you choose, This narrows Riku's age down to 7-10 months older than Sora. Neither Sora nor Riku has their age displayed anywhere in 100% surety after KH2. But according to Square, as of KH3, they are both 16-17 which fits the 7-10 month age gap. KH Coded took a week, and DDD has 7 worlds x2 days/ is 14 + 7 = 21 days bringing us to Sora at 15/16yrs and 4months 21days. This means Riku is 16 years 6 months or 9 months and 21 days If he is 7-10 months older than Sora; but Riku can't be 16 and 6 months if even one month has passed from the start of KH2 if Sora is 15 and 4 months so the previous option 2 must be correct and Riku must be 10 months older than Sora. The glossary in DDD says 12 years have gone by since BBS so Sora has to be 16yrs 4months 21days, but ppl say the glossary is a mistranslation and that it's supposed to be 11, but this brings us back to that Struggle tourny issue with Roxas and the timeline either being wrong or Sora is actually 16 in DDD and the 12year mention in DDD glossary is correct. KH3 happens in about a month and says that Riku is 16-17 with the 365-day time skip. So if Riku is 16 years and 10 months and KH3 takes about a month that makes Riku 16 and 11 months. + Melody of Memory and the 365 days is 17yrs and 11 months and 21days. Sora physically doesn't change from KH2-3 but how much time actually passes from the start of KH2 to the end of KH2. With the DDD glossary and that time discrepancy, there are three conclusions. 1: Sora and Riku are 10 months apart in age, and they are both 17 at the start of KH4 where their year number overlaps. 2: Sora is 16, Riku is 17, there are mistranslations and the timeline is wrong. 3: Sora is 17 and Riku just turned 18 on the day Sora woke up in Quadratum. thusly bringing us to a full circle of KH1 the start of Dark Seeker Saga being Soras Bday and the start of Saga 2 being Riku's Birthday. Making Riku's Birthday May 28th. But hey. That's just a theory. Edit for spelling.

KH3 is another year after KH2, so 16 and the Limit Cut happen 1 year after the main events, making 17. in the trailer is confirmed the events happen a weak after the fight against Yozora. So is still 17. For who have doubts about KH3 being after 1 year (more or less). KH2 begin in the end of summer, so the firsts of september. During the second visit of Halloween Town is said is almost Chrstmas, and Halloween seems to be passed. We don't know if Christmas happen during KH2 or after KH2, but we can assume happen after KH2. So, KH2 begin at the begin of september and we can assume ends at novembre/middle-december. In KH3 is summer again, and Twilight Town is pretty changed... so passed a good amount of time. So yhea, between begin KH2 and 3 passed nearly a year. And we know in KH the calender work like our world, because the Journal mention Christmas happen during 25 december. Maybe? The EARLIEST is a couple of days, as "Coded" itself only takes about a Day to happen. ° AND THEN "DDD" happens in about 2 nights AT MOST, right? Roxas is 2 in KH4. Obviously, he's Sora's age since he is his nobody. Nomura revealed in September 2018 that Terra is about 20, which makes sense since in KH2 interviews he stated Xemnas was in his early 30's. 2 is 11 years after BBS. Aqua is about 18 and Ven is about 16. Those are their ages in BBS.

Okay so Sora was 14 in Kingdom Hearts and Chain of Memories but went into a deep sleep for a year while Namine gave him his Memories back. Kingdom Hearts 2 Sora is now 15 years from there he's still 15 in Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance where he took the mark a mastery so 15 turning 16 in a few months Kingdom Hearts 3 Sora is 16 but disappears out of existence after he saved Kairi and his friends looked everywhere for him for a whole year so Sora would have to be 17 years old in Kingdom Hearts 4

If foreigners (plenty do, but many more dont because they are not hardcore like that) actually followed Famitsu/Dengeki releases, they'd know the timeline of KH because both magazines released the timeline multiple times when 2.8 was first announced in September 2015 to the day of its release in Japan on January 12, 2017. In fact, before that, the Memeorial Ultimania, which released in 2014, showed that Sora's age was 15 in DDD. Even without that, after playing DDD and 3, people still thought to themselves that it took months or a year for the original body of a heartless and nobody to be recompleted? On top of that, they still thought Master Xehanort was just going to wait a year for Sora and co. get more members for the final fight? Back to my original point: CoM, coded, DDD are the only games listed in the KH timeline provided by Famitsu/Dengeki (which come from Nomura) during 2.8 promotion "Immediately after the ending" to the game before them. X is "over 100 years" before BBS. 1 is 10 years after BBS. KH2 is 1 year after CoM. Lastly, the KH3 Ultimania states Sora and Riku's exact age. There's a character section that details their journey. For Sora, it states things that I did at age 4, 14, 15 (each age is in a separate box) and for 15, it states DDD and 3.

I really hate how most people count Sora’s age! As is all the adventures only take a few hours to beat…. Video game time is not the same as irl time!!! Consider sora needs to sleep/eat travel between worlds takes at lesst one day! Some worlds with multiple events probably take a week or so to fiinish. What about grinding? Sora is as experienced with fighting as you were the first time you ever played Kh! He probably trained a lot to be able to beat clayton in a 1v1! Taking another week or two for every boss I could go on and on

Maybe that could be time-dialation in the RoD being funky. We know that time can "Compress" in the RoD like we saw in 0.2, IE Time inside it happening slower than the rest of the world. But KH3 does at least somewhat imply that the revese can happen in the RoD, so it may have been over a year after KH2 in the RoD because the RoD happened to be in accelerated time at that moment (Time in the RoL happening slower than in the RoD)
