I'm 39 this year and I hit Masters 5 previous season on support. It depends on when you started gaming and the consistency. I've been gaming since 2 yrs old playing NES Mario, played professionally on Counter-Strike Source during the CAL/CPL years, and never really left the gaming culture. I definitely slowed down from when I was competing in my early 20s with adult things :) I do enjoy watching competitive players on streams/youtube and I always pick up a thing or 2 to try with my gaming style. I was too early into the esports scene when I was competing (the entire esports scene died once, then it got revived by TBS with ELEAGUE). The only complaint I have with every multiplayer gaming is the increases in number of trolls or just people who really need to see psychiatrists (legitimately). I'm just too old for nonsense. During my competing days, teammates were real teammates that you had to bond and strategize with for several hours everyday... So, there wasn't much trolling except when it was trash talking between teams, which is expected. With the matchmaking implementation today, sure it's a good idea to get games going, but your teammates are shitting on you constantly! I'm just blown away about that.

But....our girl is thirsty and needs to drink to keep healing. I feel like dps moira's dominate nowadays, but you do so much better if you've got 20k heals to go with that 38-3. I'd almost argue that older players could more likely play overwatch better than some younger players. Good reaction time in any shooter is a great skill, but Overwatch is much more of a game of positioning and resource management. This is not CSGO or Valorant. Older players more often take more time and think about the game going on around them as opposed to just flicking heads and landing shots. Always always always play with positioning and decision-making in mind more than worrying about missing a shot or two here and there. Continue to learn and make better decisions and play better positions, and you'll climb faster than you would training just your reaction times.

Small things in the tank's playstyle made life much more difficult for the Ana. Nothing that was really crazy or really inappropriate, but clearly a tank that hadn't adjusted to the new DPS passive. As to reaction time, if anyone older is worried about slowing down as they age, you can compensate with other things. In OW, your decision making should improve pretty well as you age, and tactical patience is much easier when you are out of the "hot-head-20-something" part of life. Overall, however, this Ana's gameplay impressed me. I have no complaints about their mechanics, they did quite well.

Age isn't as huge a deal as people make it out to be. I'm turning 40 this year and have peaked low masters. Pretty sure I could graze GM if I had any actual time to grind. I have a friend whose 70+ year old grandmother still speed runs Super Metroid. When you're talking about age-based decline in reaction time, you're generally talking fractions of a second. That can make a difference when you're elite, sure. But for us normies, it probably won't be a make or break thing unless you have other health issues going on, at least not to the point where you can't compensate for it with good positioning and awareness.

KZbin Comment Response; Mini Map and Accessibility: #1 cause of frustration is not being aware of your teammates position; even if the player does a 180 there's no guarentee that your team is where you last saw them, a lot can happen in 2 seconds. If a player with arthritis endures the discomfort of the flick to ensure a won fight, perhaps their ana had to reposition and now los is to the right. Larger bullets lowered the obtainable skill ceiling, impossible to be aware of your teammates position throughout the entirety of a fight. I tweeted these thoughts to Aaron and team for the ally radar for tank alone, I know believe it's meant for everyone.

The answer to the title: when you can't see, hear or control your hands/arms at all - it might get a bit difficult. Otherwise, unless you've never played a game/shooter before and are 60 or older you'll be fine. Heck, if you *have* played before and decide to get into OW2 at 60 you'll be fine. Not top 500 fine, but with a bit of luck you'll have more time to practise than the average 27 year old will :p People don't often realise that yes you do get slower as you age and everything, but not nearly as fast or to the extent people think. And no, having had your grandfather (or father, depending on your age) walk into walls for a few hours when first trying a shooter doesn't count. Watching pros retire at 30-33 is a different situation too. 99,99% of us will never get near that level where a 2% decline in whatever means you can no longer compete effectively.

40 myself and I don't think it's necessarily reaction time or anything like that diminishing, but the reality of only being able to find an hour or 2 to game every other day or something is what decreases game play. Can't keep skill level high enough to compete with the younger generation that play 3-4 hours a day. Wish the whole streaming life was a thing when I was playing games like a full time job lol.
