Thank you for telling Chinese history. I’ve made many videos teaching Chinese language in a vivid and humorous way. I hope somebody can recommend my videos to those who want to learn Chinese. For beginners, Chinese characters may look complicated. But once you learn about 100 basic radicals, most characters become easy. I hope more people can learn Chinese to get comprehensive firsthand information about China and most likely seek more job opportunities.

If I remember correctly, the way 茶經 prescribes for making tea is very different from today’s brewing. Tea leaves would be baked on coals and ground pretty fine, perhaps similar to matcha. I wonder what it tasted like.

Interesting fact about black tea; East india company had trouble preserving green tea in barrels so it was dried in the sun and oxidized (turning it black) prior to barreling for shipping. Says a lot about Chinese culture (and class) the lu yu legend, do you know the one about how a Chinese nobleman tricked a sweet potato root from a portugese trader? Apparently the peasants were already growing them but the beurocratic nobleman gained official credit and 'free' foreign trade was discouraged.
