How Our Ability to Discern Sin Can Deceive Us About Ourselves

Our ability to discern sin around us can work to deceive us about ourselves by causing us to be satisfied with this ability and not pursue holiness. We can take this ability to be an approval of ourselves, because we see how other people are walking in great sins. However, this does not mean that we ourselves are GOOD, and our ability to discern the sin in others does not mean we truly understand the fullness of sin. We need the Lord to teach us, otherwise we rest satisfied in our own understanding of right and wrong, missing the way of true righteousness.
