No no no, he is missing out some part of the story.. Actually Milind Gunaji was originally signed for this role, but he was required to shave off his beard, and because Gunaji was doing other films where he was in beard, he opted out of DDLJ, this is when Parmeet stepped in,..so it's not as if suddenly previous actor was removed in favour of parmeet.. this is the real story...
