fun fact. the building where those buses are made used to make A24, B24, and A26 bombers during WW2. and B47 and B66 afterwards. Now the building is in use by IC Corp and Spirit Aerosystems in Tulsa, Oklahoma. other notable planes or parts made there. B1B, B2, Space Shuttle Bay Doors, and parts for the F18.
@genevarailfan39092 ай бұрын
Even more fun fact. Until a few years ago, the Chicagoland factory that made some of the engines for those bombers built in Tulsa was owned by the same company (Navistar) that's using the bus plant!

As far as school buses go, it's nice to see how they put the things together. At least the video showed us one of the latest models of a vehicle that millions of kids have to ride yet none like to brag about! 😁👍
@genevarailfan39092 ай бұрын
Well, the model in the video is from over a decade ago. That plant started a brand new model this year that's just starting to be seen on the roads. The body has gotten a lot of upgrades, I'm sure the engine is new, and the exhaust routing and fuel tank mounting/cage are very different. The batteries are also mounted in a different place now.

Not all school children ride on dedicated buses to get to school or on mini-buses either owned or hired by the school. Public transport is the ideal way of getting to/from school.
@Inigo_The_Son2 ай бұрын
@joelharris That is ideal, if you don't mind your children riding with the homeless bums who shoot drugs on the busses and trains and use them as open air bathrooms.

Maybe in your neck of the woods, but this is primarily a north American thing where public transit isn't a stones throw away. Would you rather wait 20 years for officials to make a tram line or establish a bus line dedicated for school runs but uses standard buses or would you rather your kids get transported in a vehicle that is 8 times saver than any other road vehicle around and is owned by a company that specializes in student transport and or is own by the school themselves?

Why no safety belts in the school bus????????
@dinohall25952 ай бұрын
I assume the interior is engineered in such a way that a crash is fairly survivable due to all the cushioning on the seats. Some buses do have seatbelts, maybe because they're too small for a safer design to work.
@projectarduino22952 ай бұрын
Fun fact, there is a cost benefit analysis for a human life (at least in the US where the video is made) where a human being is worth 10 million dollars. As such, any life saving safety measure implemented by government agencies where the per life saved cost of implementation is above 10 million a person does not get implemented as the money gets allocated elsewhere for making the most efficient use of resources. As it pertains to busses, only the first three rows of seats have a cost per life saved bellow ten million dollars a life saved, and the later seats have a higher cost per life saved to implement. For example, if each seatbelt cost $5usd to install, for every 2,000,000 seatbelts installed, there needs to be one life saved statistically. As such, when it becomes lower than 1:2,000,000 (I.e. 1:>2,000,000) lives saved, as would be with the implementation of seatbelts beyond the first three seat rows, the seatbelts are not added as the money can more efficiently go elsewhere.
@genevarailfan39092 ай бұрын
Some of them do have seat belts. In general though if a school bus is in an accident it's going to be the bigger/heavier vehicle. That means it won't stop as suddenly and seat belts are less needed. It's similar to why you don't need seat belts on a train. Especially with the cushioning around all the seats and the way the seats are high above the ground, the passengers are well-protected.
