I worked at Popeyes over ten years ago and could not believe how mean the atmosphere was. I had a manager who got upset with me because I was friendly with the customer and asked how many sauces he wanted and I got picked on because I was just like the guy using the tongs and putting the chicken in the box carefully. Lol that's a good manager, they got your back before they got a customer. Cause a customer is a dime a dozen. Even as a customer I realize any business could stand to lose me and not be affected. Though a good employee is rare. Treat your crew right and everything will go right. My employees don't hear a single customer complaint unless its something bad like they picked up a pizza off the floor and tried to serve it or touched it with their bare hands after it came out of the oven. Fuck the just say yes mentality. If my crew member tells a customer we can't help them. (Exceptions apply but for the vast majority of things, i trust my employees judgment calls.) We just can't, I don't make the rules, I just enforce them. 🤷‍♂️ I also lead by example, I wouldn't ask my crew to do anything I wouldn't do and theyve seen me do everything I ask of them. It breeds a healthy work environment, cause they know i got their back and they got mine. I've had a fair few times when an employee of mine has backed me up against a customer who assumes every manager is the "just say yes" type.
