On the subject of size, I believe that in lore, everything is much bigger than how it’s represented in game. Look at the trailers, the size of the armies attacking the capital is absolutely enormous. With the exceptions of the castles, my head cannon is that everything is the base game is representative of an actual landscape 10x the size with the dlc being between 1-3x. This is a concept they also used in Skyrim - a major city with only 30 people is ridiculous, but in lore there’s probably at least a couple thousand, but video games have limitations and a giant empty city isn’t any fun anyway.

Yeah that's almost certainly that way. Otherwise the entire Lands Between would be comically small at less than 70km². Barely bigger than Manhattan. However characters talk about it like it's the size of a smaller continent. For example when Alexander goes to Caelid he doesn't say he's gonna just walk a little but it's like an actual journey to him.

I think a lot of boss's sizes are exaggerated. Bosses like Melania and Messmer.. Humanoid bosses.. I don't think they are as big and tall.. I think they're exaggerated to show how powerful they are.. The eyeless serpent Messmer "summons" is actually just Messmer turned serpent. In other attacks he summons a different one, darker and with more eyes; this one is more like to be the Abyssal Serpent.

I've seen people make the case that Messmer is incredibly strong due to his current strength while not having a Great Rune. Makes sense but I disagree, I don't think a Great Rune necessarily makes one all that more powerful. Radahn was at his peak BEFORE having a Great Rune and Godfrey conquered the world while not even having a Great Rune, afterall. Also, I don't think Rellana is more powerful than Rennala considering Rennala was THE Carian Champion.

I think Messmer for sure is the cream of the crop just on the count of him being a born and bred soldier similar to Radahn, Godfrey, and although the verdict is out on his but possibly Radagon. As for Rellana, I just attribute the higher requirements due to player characters being so high by the time you get to the DLC. Her Twin Moon would break Rennala's Full Moon if the requirements were a lot lower.

So yeah, as we become stronger, we collect more and more Great runes and strengthen ourselves. I think the Greatrunes are just buffs to your already existing/innate talents. Thats why the Messmer not having one and being able to hold his own to the stronger demigods is a big thing. Would he have one, we could make the argument that he could surpass people like Prime Radahn and Melania (and later Rotgoddess Melania).

Gameplay and lore wise, he curbs Messmer. Even if you only use first phase Radahn without Miquella, he's stronger than Messmer. And that's a fair fight because it's base Radahn without a Great Rune against Messmer with outside help from the Abyssal Serpent. The gameplay reflects the lore. The official lore book even states that Radahn is the strongest demigod, and it was released after SOTE so it includes Messmer.

4:45 I'd argue Messmer is not an Empyrean namely because Ranni exists. Ranni proves that parentage of a single god is not what's required to make an Empyrean, and Malenia's description is referring to her curse as a result of being born of a single god, not her Empyrean status. It's more likely that to be an Empyrean you have to be female, as every single one of Marika/Radagon's daughters is an Empyrean. Miquella is male and is also an Empyrean, however he has a female alter ego which probably still makes him a candidate. This is probably related to Gods requiring a Lord.

I personally consider it better to compare him to in game characters, since that's what most of us came for. Messmer is objectively, the STRONGEST DEMIGOD. And for that we have 2 arguments: Marika's fear - messmer, a non confirmed imperian is getting a far greater degree of care for his curse from the strongest being in the verse than malenia herself, just to make even the dumbest monkey understand, malenia, the same being capable of nuking a continent, one of the only 3 confirmed being in the verse capable of succeeding Marika, is receiving a far lower degree of care than Messmer. Is this justified? Yes. The thorns of the erdtree are told to be only capable of burning by a world ending flame aka.Giant's flame and frenzied flame; messmerflame being capable of burning them represents the absurd power this flames posses. To add insult to injury the base serpent is the biggest of Marika's worries, so... Quess what are the other 2 things with a serpentine nature marika has to worry about, That's right, the world devouring serpent(capable of literally swallowing the world) and the gloam eyed queen(the only reason empyrians die(aka.the previous user of destined death), meaning messmer has a deep relation with one of those 2... Or both. Radahn's admiration - do i seriously need to explain why having the STRONGEST DEMIGOD OF THE SHATTERING admire Messmer is an absolute testament to his power. One of the most underrated aspects of Shadow of the Erdtree is the logistics, tactics and composition of Messmer's army. Roaming across the Realm Of Shadow, you can see just how brutal and efficient their crusade was with destroyed and burnt down towns, impaled corpses charred with Messmerfire and furnace golems roaming the land. Forts with soldiers guarding passes and squads fighting the land's beatss are also a common sight. Just thinking of the many different horrible fates suffered by the Hornsent can also be haunting to think about. Burned and impaled on pikes, becoming reduced to shadows after being burned (And possibly being unable to die due to the Scaduetree or the suppression of death in the realm), beaten and branded with serpent flails before stuffed into furnace golems (Like the shamans in Bonny Village, in a cruel twist of irony), being infected and turned into manflies or devolving into bloodfiends.

I imagine he is on the same level as Melenia and Radahn (base game Radahn before the rot) however Messmer undeniably has the strongest army out of anyone in the game. I do feel like Messmer could beat Melenia, gamplay wise Messmer definitely seems like one of the best fighters and is definitely the most agile and aggressive out of all the demigods. Godwyn and Messmer fought when Godfrey and Radagon fought so I assume they're the two strongest demigods by a good margin since they never got great runes. I like to imagine that Messmer and Rellana met and fell in love during the the Lurnian Wars, mirroring Radagon and Rennal, but they strike me as a fierce rivalry that became a quiet admiration and then secret love. I think that's why we don't get much about the Queen's sister, she gave up everything for the Crusade and stands guard at a strategic location between Gravesight Plain and Scadu Altus. They're both incredibly tragic figures, Messmer bound to his mother and Rellana bound to Messmer, and neither ever truly get what they really wanted.

I havent watched the video yet, but i will post my personal Ranking of Marika’s Children in terms of power (ill edit the comment after i finish the video) 1. Messmer 2. Radahn 3. Malenia 4. Miquella 5. Morgott 6. Mogh 7. Rykard I have not included Ranni, Melina or Godwyn as we dont really have a clue on the true extents of their power. Edit: Yeah i pretty much agree, although in the lore the lands between and consequently the Lands of Shadow would be bigger, so bare minimum he would be beyond Town level, Large Town at least.

My theory (probably is wrong but ye) is that Messmer is a demigod but that has not only had his powers taken and locked away by Marika but his great rune also I think it was destroyed because he is let’s say the Anakin Skywalker of Elden Ring he was a child ready to be an Empyrean but it went against all that Marika believed and possibly the outer gods too and Marika knew that so to enact the perfect order Marika tried her best to hide this powerful entity and like Promised Consort Radahn if we had gods gift and had a second DLC Messmer came back in all his glory and power to truly make his reign known and become the most powerful demigod in all of history? 👀

I'm not sure what the amp of a great rune would be, if it's minimal or out of combat boost then I'd still say miquella clears in power, radahn clears in combat ability (maybe power depending on tax of the stars) and godwyn in terms of narrative strength due to gransaxx feat and golden order affinity. Dark horse would be Rykard, hard to gauge what would happen there, but they will be family

Give Pickled Turtle Neck to Agheel as an offering, and he'll fly you over to the front gate of Stormveil. You'll still have to deal with Margit, but if you travel to the shunning grounds beforehand, you can collect an item that will let you skip the fight, Morgott's baby photos. Presenting these to Margit will cause him to die of embarrassment, leaving you free to explore Stormveil. Hope this helps. :)

@ I’d say it’s more likely the tradition persisted there as it was an active army fighting, and they wanted to seek any possible ways to maintain their faith in the Erdtree. In the Lands Between fighting was no longer necessary after the Fire Giants fell, hence why Godfrey was exiled- but in the Land of Shadow, it was absolutely necessary, hence why the tradition persisted.

Messmer knowing exactly what a tarnished is doesn't strike anybody as odd? How much information trickles into the land of Shadow? We get two different stories for Godfrey implying the common folk were told half-truths or lies. Rennala chosing to go with him implies Liurnia already joined Leyndel. Id take Messmer in a fight over any other Demigod. Maybe even Radagon. His flame, serpent powers and battle experience are unrivaled. He has incredible speed and faith and he's probably only weaker physically than Radahn. His spears are also incredible, they don't snap and if dropped he can resummon them in a fraction of a second. His poise and defense are decent but everything else is just absurdity.
