Some news this week was Mark Hamill defending Jake Lloyd and kind of standing up against criticism of the prequels. I'm not surprised this wasn't mentioned on the council, because prequel bashing seems to be a must on Collider, and any comments that don't fit into that don't seem to get mentioned. Hamill also said he knows about "clunky dialogue" similar to what Jake Lloyd had. And YES, Hayden Christensen should return and I really hope he is in Episode 8.

David James ... look at their decorations! It is all OT (no Prequel figures)! Besides I don't like the way George Lucas thumbs down religious belief systems that was not the case with the OT! If it's Luke's perspective and he hears Jedi voices (from spiritual form) and his mind is associatively putting a physical image to that voice ... well duhh he only saw older Ben Kenobi and the older Anakin (at the end of ROJ. I think they didn't CGI Haydn Christensen when Luke removes the mask!?)! -- When you enter a spiritual form your neither old nor young or would you like to live eternity seeing less attractive to old age forms (according to religious belief systems)!??

David James so mark Hamill was defending jake Lloyd not the prequels. Prequels just suck. End of story. Great music, great effects, great costumes, shitty dialogue, shitty character development
@lawrencejelsma39377 жыл бұрын
Erik Casella ... not even the effects!? ... And how did Mace Windu die!? EP II Anikan can fall several stories, as a Jedi, onto moving vehicles in Jedi training!? Why wasn't Mace Windu taking courses from Anikan? There are bits and pieces of the Prequels good; but, more thought and care, instead of cartoon CGI-on-the-run physics! I did like all Darth Maul scenes in EP I as a menace! Obi-Wan vs Jengo Fett and cloner mystery with fight was ok on Kamino. Battle Arena 3 monsters ok! Yoda duel with Count Duku good (critics state why walk with a cane to deceive!?)! Great return to Curuscant for the Sith! -- all in EP II. EP III had great action movie-long but needed more time to develop (I.e. maybe a TV series works out best to watch Anikan being with the Jedi; but, constant interruptions in Jedi discipline in Jedi missions vs coming back to Padme stories needed)!

I gotta disagree. Luke has never been about "POWER!" or even wisdom per se. What makes him a great hero is his heart, his moral compass. He refused to kill. He chose non-violence. He'd rather die by the Emperor's hand than give into hatred. He believed in his father's love when no one else would. Even when he messed up (leaving Dagobah for Bespin), it was because he cared so much about Han and Leia. Star Wars is NOT a superhero film. Luke is not Magneto. SW is classic mythology and folklore filtered through adventure serials, westerns and modern special effects.

He'll take a life when necessary, but Luke's defining moment, his ultimate test was in RotJ when he refused to kill Vader and appealed to his father's humanity. Even Obi-Wan and Yoda had given up on Vader/Anakin at that point.

Annakin having a role in episode 8 wouldn't be too surprising and it may actually be a key turning point for Kylo Ren. In TFA Kylo Ren was always speaking to his passed grandfather about how we wishes he could become as powerful in the dark side as he was. But Kylo Ren doesn't know that Annakin redeemed himself and turned back towards the light before he died. I think if he actually gets to encounter Annakin's spirit it might show him that he needs to align with the light as well.

The people making rebels just aren't great at storytelling. They can pull off a few good to great episodes, but they can't handle an overall series, which confuses me seeing what Filoni did with Avatar. I don't know much about Thrawn in the EU, but I do know he's a huge character for a reason. Now, I have no doubt that they will most likely give his character a fantastic payoff by the end of the season (though I wouldn't be surprised if it was the last episode), but that doesn't excuse them for doing nothing at ALL with his character for more than half of this season. That's not how you handle big villains of his caliber. You don't just disregard his prowess completely with a slow buildup until the end of the season. He still has to be awesome and overwhelming leading UP to his final strike. This is done wrong, as with much of everything else in Rebels.
@VadersFist957 жыл бұрын
Bunnitt W so wait you dont onow much about Thrawn yet you are critisizing how theyre using him?
@skeeyee16437 жыл бұрын
I don't need to know much about Thrawn to criticize this fact. Everything has an exception. Thrawn his a huge villain with a huge following for a reason. I don't need to read his books to know they are using him wrong, Dais. He hasn't DONE ANYTHING. Anyway, it's more of a criticism from a storytelling standpoint.You don't introduce a big villain with all that marketing and do nothing with him for more than half of the season.

I'd love to see Hayden return as Anikin Skywalker in Episode 8 or 9! it'd be the best way to tie everything together and to give Ben/Kylo a swift kick in the ass! Plus it was once rumoured that Hayden himself would love the chance to step back into the role as either Anikin or Vader. And I don't have anything against Hayden or any of the cast from the prequel trilogy. He did a great job, they all did. If there is blame to be placed on anyone for how poorly those films were made, it would have to be placed on Lucas! With this new director at the helm, and should Hayden return should the script call for it, the there is no doubt that we will see Anikin portrayed in a new light, befitting of the story and the character, and it would make for an excellent and welcome return for Hayden! And as for Luke? He would be much more powerful than he was when we last saw him come the end of RotJ, but I agree perhaps a bit reserved. Not knowing his own strength so to speak. But I would love to see him making short work of troopers with his saber and use of his Force powers. and to go toe to toe with his nephew.

Count me in the pro camp for ghost-anakin. The concept art for him in the TFA art book looked amazing and NOT having him appear would feel so out of place since he is such a pivotal character in the galaxy- ESPECIALLY in the unlikely event that Rey is a skywalker, then we need to have a scene with all three generations of skywalkers standing together, accepting their role in the galaxy.

Leia was a Jedi under Luke's tutelage in Canon, which probably became Legend now. Further, the "Last Jedi" could allude to the last one trained; it could also be that Luke is the Last Jedi to be trained in that manner as Rey may be trained as a Grey Jedi...nevertheless, it probably was chosen to get people suspecting about things, which helps in marketing.

It wasn't just that Battlefront was the first Star Wars game since the deal, it was that Battlefront 2 was one of the most fun Star Wars game ever released. It had endless replay ability, had prequel and original trilogy characters, different factions to play as, conquest mode, space battles, and numerous heroes and villains that you can play as. Everything that this new one didn't have because of a game company like EA that only cares about looks and doing the bare minimum. It's terrible when a game that came out in 2005 is far superior than the predecessor that came out 10yrs later.

First off, I want to say this was another awesome episode. Kudos to everyone involved each and every week, in front of the cameras and behind them. Honestly, thank you! It's my favorite Collider show and I hope it continues for as long as there's STAR WARS movies to talk about. Unfortunately, I'm getting less and less inclined to read my fellow viewers' statements in the comments section. Look, it's freaking impossible to like each and every one of the Collider personalities. If there is a particular one I don't 'like', then the last thing I'm going to do is come on here and crap all over them. These people are taking time out of their lives and schedules to give us multiple FREE shows week in and week out. I'm sure that they all read the comments section to get a vibe from everyone. Ok, maybe not all of them, but dare I say most of them. I usually listen to these episodes the next day at work via the podcast format audio. The few times I was able to join in on the live Collider Movie Talk episodes, I was appalled at some of the comments I was seeing, just hateful and vindictive shit! I like to scroll down and see what other people are liking about STAR WARS in these Jedi Council episodes. But the amount of non-Star Wars topics is just sad to me. I'm getting less and less tempted of doing that anymore. I know most of us on here respect each other and appreciate these wonderful people putting on [AGAIN!] free shows. But it's those rotten few who I think ruin it for the rest of us. Just my 2 cents.

I'm not saying Jar Jar has to come back but if I saw Naboo or Corusaunt or any prequel planets I will be happy.

Great clip by Chris Hartwell. I'd be on board with HC reappearing as Anakin as a Force Ghost or vision in Episode 8 or 9 as long as it fits the story, which this clip demonstrated that it did. I agree with a lot of his points. I'd love to see it happen if done well, but it could be terrible if its done poorly. I'm sure Disney and Johnson are well aware of that though and wouldn't consider it unless they were very confident it could be done well. Also if HC redeems himself playing Vader in the new trilogy, it would mirror the character he played perfectly!

That "Rule of Two" theory for the Jedi to follow as well could be amazing and kinda makes sense. 1. The original rise of the Empire could partly be attributed to the fact that the Jedi Order had become so blind to real danger and some of their rules were severely outdated. 2. Luke tried to start a new order but then his star pupil Kylo Ren betrayed Luke and took some of the Jedi and turned them into the Knights of Ren while killing the rest that wouldn't follow him. Luke is probably weary of trying to start over because of the fear that he won't be strong enough to stop another such incident. He may believe that just two Jedi should exist at once so that the new order does not become corrupted. 3. Lastly, there is a precedent that only one Jedi was able to overthrow an evil empire by himself (of course with help from his non-Jedi friends) so maybe he thinks two is just right for ensuring peace in the galaxy. It would be kinda ironic that the Sith created the "rule of two" to ensure they would never again be plagued with infighting and such. But Luke may adopt it as well for another different but equally important reason. The original council was weak because of too much inaction, and their lack of using necessary violence led them straight to their own destruction. Bonus theory: What if we find out that the Jedi Council had a traitor in their midst working with Palpatine the whole time. Maybe even it was Snoke himself? My God, I'm way too much a Star Wars geek to have this amount of thought about just a possible (yet unlikely) future plot point.

I'm not a big fan of the prequels at all, I really only like RoTS, but the idea of Hayden force ghost Anakin sitting and conversing with old man Luke is extremely cool to me. Connects the prequels and current universe like we've never seen before, and to hear what Anakin would have to say about the mistakes he made or what his life was like as Vader well after those events, I love the images that pop up. I know it's not popular, but I think Hayden could really get a chance to be redeemed with a director like Rian Johnson.

I would love to see Kylo get redeemed and pulled back to the light. And granted we have seen that before, but what we haven't really seen is a 180° of one character who was first dark come to the light, and a character who was first light go to the dark. Rey and Kylo reversing roles would be fascinating and make Rey become a hearbreaking tragic character. Han Solo is my second favourite SW character and I still believe Kylo Ren to be redeemable.

Considering Luke is able to use both Light and Dark Sides of the Force, I kind of want him to be the second known master of Vaapad in the Star Wars universe. I feel like this style would be very befitting of him too. It wouldn't require a lot of flamboyancy but a masterful technique as well as unpredictability, and of course it would let his emotions take control of the fight but he would never actually turn to the Dark Side.

I can't help but think of the old western Rio Bravo (1959) where John Wayne has to knock some sense into his best friend (Dean Martin's character) and sober him up to get him "back in the saddle". Of course, I don't want to see a drunk Luke, but instead of focusing on how powerful Luke is, I think I'd like to see TLJ focus on Luke's own personal defeat, having lost his best friend (along with several of his students) at the hands of his own pupil. I agree with Tiffany that he would probably be reluctant to use the force after all that has happened. I think it would be very moving to see him have a change of heart as a result of his relationship with Rey.
