@@handsomestranger8211 Agree completely. I don't believe any trash that came out about JFK post-assasination. It's easy to lie when someone is gone, and the Kennedys have too much dignity and respect for privacy to lower themselves to any accusations.

I'm proud to have known Mr. Sorensen through my Mom's legal secretarial job at Paul, Weiss in NYC. She worked for the most senior partner, a lawyer famous in his own right, Arthur Liman. Mr. Sorensen loved when younger people wanted to know about JFK. His office was a shrine to him. We sat and talked and he idolized JFK so much that his hair was cut the same, he'd wear the same light grey suits that JFK wore. Underneath a piece of glass covering his desk were some of JFK'S famous doodles on yellow legal pad paper. I actually saw "Kruschev" in JFK'S handwriting. He autographed and gave me a copy of his biography "Kennedy". He came to my Mom's retirement party at the 21 Club and wrote a cute poem for her, signed and framed. He was a lovely, gentle, soft-spoken man; now they're all gone -- JFK, Mr. Sorensen, Mom, Mr. Liman -- and it was a remarkable part of my life the 25 years Mom worked there. Requiescat in Pace 🙏 all of them. 💙☘️✨

I was 5 when he gave this speech and my parents left a hostile racist Mississippi for the safety of me and my brother and sister. His speech / determined voice ushered in the next 10 years shifting America to more of a just and inclusive nation. Let freedom stand!

My father had to leave a hostile southern state too for the similar reasons, based on income instead of race. The hate was intolerable

Jackie said they played the soundtrack of Camelot on many evenings, and she and Jack liked the Camelot reprise, and the final verse, in the finale: "Don't let it be forgot, that once there was a spot, for one brief shining moment, that was known as Camelot". It was Jackie who wanted her husband's time in the White House to be thought of as Camelot.

Sorenson wrote nearly all of Kennedy's words in his speeches and his books. Kennedy may have added a touch here and there, but Sorenson, a great writer, was the author. Which is not to diminish Kennedy's oratorical gifts. He was a great speaker. Unfortunately, he was a weak and sefl-indulgent man.

Maureen … here here! Plus every president in the modern age uses speech writers; a fact which the Kennedy Library and every scholar of presidential history knows. What’s your point DPE with the irrelevant low blow at the end of your commentary?

@@vicbertfartingclack4559 My point is that Kennedy was a very flawed man and politician. I was a supporter of his brother Robert in 1968 as a sophomore in college. I was greatly saddened when he was killed. But his brother was less than a mediocre president and the Kennedy mystique was a lie, largely created by liberals after he died. JFK was a a rapacious sex addict like Clinton. Not an admirable man at all. Also, it's not "here, here!" It's "Hear, Hear!"
