That light coming from the briefcase is a nod to an old trashy film noir called 'Kiss Me Deadly' that had a similar mysterious case with a glowing light that is never revealed.

I’ve decided that the briefcase has diamonds (or a diamond) that Mr. Pink ran away with in Reservoir Dogs. He went into hiding, being forced to be a waiter at the 50s diner as punishment because he didn’t believe in tipping.

How about movies that feature women? Women directors, women actors as important roles, movies that might even revolve around women! Sometimes it seems like men are obsessed with a certain type of movie. Movies about men, featuring violence, war, gangs, etc. Often there will be one interesting role for a woman (like Kate in The Godfather), but she is still mostly a satellite around a main character who is a man, serving largely as a character-developing mother, wife, seductress, etc. for him.

Constructive criticism: be careful not to state the obvious about a scene or hammer home a point multiple times. One "it's not a request, it's a demand" is enough. It interrupts the flow.

@@brianlooney9961 I get it, but I am trying to get writers thinking about how each line was crafted in a certain way and why it was included in the script. I also need to react or I'll get a copyright block. In the future, I'll do deeper dives and video essays that are more popular. These are my first attempts as I learn what my audience likes. You might like my departed, the office, and social network videos. Feel free to check those out and let me know what you think! Thanks for being constructive!

Also it isn’t just self-sacrifice that motivates Jules to tell honeybunny to point the gun at him or worry over Vince’s safety. Jules KNOWS Vinvce will kill her - easily. He’s trying to save their lives and he knows if she continues pointing her gun at Vince - especially in her displayed state, Vince will kill her at a hiccup, flex or sneeze. And then Jules will have to kill Ringo.

I love your stuff but the briefcase is only kinda a macguffin. Only jokes, Vincent, and marcellus wants it. And later the robbers. But no one else even knows about it. I suppose it could be a macguffin in this arc but it is in a limited role. Side not. I always assumed it was money or drugs since that fits this scene. But if you take all his movies as a whole then seeing this ass the diamonds from RD makes some sense
@decodinghollywood8175
@decodinghollywood8175 4 ай бұрын
So glad you are enjoying the videos! I am trying to make them funny and informational. The briefcase was the reason Jules and Vince felt like Marcellus Wallace got fucked by these guys, and Jules won't give it up at the end. And Ringo says, "It's beautiful" at the end, so if it were diamonds, wouldn't he have said, "They're beautiful?" Unless it was just one diamond. Either way, it's art, so it's open to interpretation and Quentin never lets us know in the movie.

Why do the men get all the important roles where they go through so much change and get to turn from caterpillars into butterflies, and the women get to be cute but ditzy (the French lady), full of bravado but ultimately dumb (the diner robbing lady) or alluring and amusing but causing men trouble they must figure out themselves (Uma Thurman)? Ultimately, Tarantino is an extremely sexist director.

I’ve been watching your videos but again (sigh) you got something significant wrong. Jules never had any intention of “playing with his food before he killed it” the whole point as you brought up just earlier was that Jules was a changed person. Had this robbery happened the day before both honeybunny and garçon dude would have been dead before Vince even finished his #2. He wasn’t ‘playing with his food’ he was making a determination within himself NOT to kill these two.
