Very nice! I used to be a fencing crew for a not so nice guy and we dug all the post holes. It looks like that pounder is the ticket. I'm just wondering about how it works with rocks. I put up about 160 feet of fence last year but we live where the river used to run. I gave up trying too dig the post holes and hired a couple of guys. Some of the rocks that came out of the ground were pretty big, a couple of feet across. Those two guys didn't speak English but by the time they were done they knew how to say "big rock".

They have the T-post options or 2-3" pipe options, too.

Hi, just wondering...wouldn't it go a lot faster if the posts had a diagonal cut on the bottom end?

D'autant plus que la pointe écarterait la terre et le poteau tiendra encore mieux

It would, the post would be less likely to split as well

When I used to put posts in we used a gas hand auger and 8” diameter posts, then filled in the dirt, sledgehammered the ground, and leveled the post. We installed 6 gauge steel fencing… yes 6 gauge, it wasn’t delivered in a roll but already cut into 4’x16’ sections. I doubt a truck could break through the fence once it was completed. We asked why the client wanted such a beefy fence, and the homeowner said it was due to several conspiracy theories. It was good money though:)

The pounder, like an auger, is great, in the right soil conditions, add rock to the equation, and no go.

Amazing to me that you are able to pound flat bottom posts into the ground without digging at all. Must be really soft ground.

I think the pointy end is supposed to go into the ground, not the flat part, but seems like they got it to go in. Wouldn't work at my house.

It looks great but some advice for future reference, next time cut the posts into a point to make it easier to go into the ground and the posts are less likely to split

You do a great job, I'm impressed. Didn't your ancestors come from Poland? Your last name sounds similar to Polish.

paint or seal the tops of the posts or they will rot from the top down

Post_Pounder is a great idea, but not from central Texas. There are too many large and hard rocks. A titanium pointy post might be an option.

Too late now, but decent horse fencing has four rails so the horses can’t put a leg through.
