Transform your life by reading
It’s Wisdom Wednesday
Today’s wisdom comes from Dr Seuss
He says;
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go”
I want to encourage you to become a voracious reader, and a lifelong learner. Without that skill, you really limit yourself, but with it, you open up so many possibilities.
I hope you have a great day.
God bless you!

When I was 17, I was fairly lost in life and had no passions. I was just about to graduate and I could not decide what to do out of my minimal options. So I picked up a book off a library shelf. It was Slaughterhouse-5 by Kurt Vonnegut. 3 years later, I'm a year into my English Literature degree, and have read over 200 books since then. I owe it all to Kurt.

For everyone who isn’t into reading, bc you have to “sit down” for it, try audiobooks. Time flies by, when you’re doing something tedious, but listen to a good book. And regarding lifelong learning: I just learned the meaning of “voracious” (English isn’t my first language) The more you know 💪🏻

Books quite literally, got me thru my childhood. Early adulthood and even now. I've used many things as distraction, but Books are the healthiest . I love to read. Probably the nicest thing my mom did was make us read. Qe had reading goals each summer. I didn't need them though...I always loved to read a good book. ❤ . From jock to the internet dad. Ypu sure have so much to be proud of

I was just like you, dad. Not much of a reader in my childhood years, after i become a mom though it helps me now to recover my brain activity and condition from before. I can really feel the difference. And now I read the books i was supposed to read in my adolescent years - just finished Gone with the wind and Znachor by Mostowicz. Now continue with The English patient. God bless you all

I wish I read more as a kid, even though I hated it. Going through highschool and especially university was a challenge when it came to reading textbooks because I was such a slow reader. Most of my classmates could read something twice as fast so studying and reading assignments really ate up my time. Learn from my mistakes and read often as a kid, it's worth it in later years. If you find some books challenging or boring, try switching it up to a different genre or even reading a textbook if you find learning interesting. We never studied geography in elementary, but the textbooks are pretty interesting if you're into the outdoors!

Having to read Wuthering Heights, Catcher in the Rye and R&J in high school killed my love of reading. I'm still trying to get it back, thirty years later.

As an English major I gotta say, I hated the first two and only liked the third because the Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes movie came out when I was studying it in high school and we got to watch it in class lol. Trust me, there are books out there for EVERYONE, all you need is a good recommendation for your specific interests. Keep looking!! (Try looking for your favourite movies and see if they were originally books 🤍)

Pro tip: Check with your local library if they have e-catalogs so you can check out digital books! They're great because you don't have to worry about fees; they'll return automatically at the due date with no extra cost. If you have trouble reading, there's no shame in using tools such as line isolators or bionic reading. I'm a college student, and having these definitely helps me survive my classes. If you don't always have time to sit down to read, audiobooks are always a great alternative. You can listen to them while doing chores or on the bus and avoid getting motion sick. Hope this helps someone!

I've had the feeling that I was too dumb to learn anything for years. I was often teased for being in special education classes and struggled with teachers and my family who weren't patient with my learning difficulties. Despite trying my best, I felt incapable of succeeding in my desired career after high school. As a result, I never attempted to pursue college. However, I've come to the realization that traditional college isn't for me. Instead, I've turned to self-learning, finding it to be a better option for me. I'm teaching myself math, science, and history at my own pace, and I'm excited to see where this path takes me.

In school, I hated reading. I just didn’t like the options that were available and would just bull crap my way through. Fortunately, two years ago I wised up and grew an enormous love for reading. I like Fantasy, Adventure, history, politics, etc. Both fiction& non-fiction. Take care and God Bless 🙏🏻 Some books I like to read: The Hobbit The Lord of the Rings Louis L’Amour’s work (Just got into him) A Song of Ice and Fire

I’ve been trying to get into reading lately: I have a couple of books and I have a fascination with tall ships, expedition & shipwreck survival true stories: I like to google as I read (definitions of words, ship & sailing terminology, etc) my biggest problem is that I can’t concentrate or sit still long 😂 as soon as I sit down somewhere quiet to read I start thinking about other things or “I wonder what everyone else is doing in the other room?”…it’s frustrating but I’m slowly managing to get through a little bit of one of my books 1 or 1/2 a chapter at a time 😂
