@@Marina_Syed In the UK, the situation improved now. However, the number of students coming to the UK after re-introducing post-study visa (PSW) has gone up by several folds. Further, the UK economy is also not doing very well at the moment. So, it may be difficult to get part-time work during the studies and a full-time job after completing studies. This year >1L Indian students came to the UK for studies. If each pays 10K pounds per year (I know students pay much more as a tuition fee for masters in science/tech. subjects), which is equivalent to 1 Billion pounds. So, the UK and other Western countries are interested in improving their economy by attracting overseas students, who pay higher tuition fees than the home students.

Indians are the largest student community in Canada. Ten years ago, fewer international students were moving to Canada to study. Nowadays, we often see a significant number of international students, which, in my opinion, is not bad. However, last year, the Canadian authorities began investigating the high number of students arriving from India in an uncontrolled manner. It was discovered that many Indian students had submitted falsified documents, such as English test results and GPA scores, to gain admission. As a result, the Canadian government started deporting these students on a massive scale. This situation is affecting India’s reputation, and it is expected that the Canadian government will soon significantly reduce the number of Indian students allowed to enter the country

He was living Surrey, I asked why can't he attend it himself and also said he has a lower chance of passing the class so he a rather pay for it and have someone else achieve his grades for him. @@indirage exactlyyyyyyyy.. People seem to blindly believe that getting their kids educated in outside india would solve all their problems. If youre talented and skilled, youll shine no matter where you are. The value of gold is the same whether its in a jewellery shop or in a ditch. So yes, if you have the financial freedom to send your kids to foreign, go for it, if youre poor already, then beware of the risks before u take the leap of faith.

This is what happens when you sell everything in your motherland and chase a fairy tale ( become super rich, lead a luxurious life , high status back home ) . People in India , especially Punjabis thinks that Canada is a safe heaven . This is a lesson for every Indian who is planning to come without Scholarship . Greed kills !! .

Just limit the student visa to students willing to pursue a three or four year university degree. Do not give visas for 6 month or 12 month courses from private colleges. This practice really undermines real university education and destroys our economy. I am an immigrant myself and when i applied for study in Canada, only universities could supply an individual with a student visa.

Unfortunately, a lot of employers don’t recognise these degrees from these “colleges” like alpha.

Yeah true you can still get a job with these college degree

Now that Alpha has partnered with St. Lawrence, the diplomas will be issued with St. Lawrence as the college name. From the piece of paper itself, it won't be possible to tell it was Alpha.

This is truly heartbreaking, I feel so sorry for International Students who came here with dreams but were given something far below that. I am a Canadian born student, brought up and raised in Brampton but I made friends with many international students. I don't understand how International students have to pay 3-4x our tuition, cover their living expenses, and have work restrictions on their study permit. The truth is competion is everywhere and companies are competing for top students who go to credible universites. I don't see how international students are suppose to compete with these students when there is a shortage of high-paying jobs. I truly feel bad. I advise students to tell their stories to their younger siblings and cousins back home and prevent them from living a hard-working life with little reward. Advise them to complete their studies back home and find a job in big cities back home. As a domestic student I struggle to pay for my own expenses and I could not imagine if I did not have my parents support. This is fraud on another level!!!

Domestic students or their parents pay for the public system and the international students subsidize it but the small career colleges are concerning.

I don't understand what you don't understand. Poor people mantain medium class people and these wealthy people. There will always be poor people that will think that can move forward but that's the fundamental lie.

What about rent increasing astronomically because international students are staying with 10 others to be able to afford and landlords are allowing them which is inflating rent.. In my city rent has increased from $700 to $2000 for one bedroom apartment. Canadians are becoming homeless while my local universities is admitting 20 thousands international from India. Not a single building has gone up due to COVID so this put even more pressure on the housing market.

Ontario made a choice to cut taxes. Mike Harris then de-regulated student tuition. More money comes in from international students than from government funding. Y/our tax cuts at work. And with libertarian, anti-government, anti-tax sentiment growing, there will be more of this colonial fleecing. University buildings-- that would be tax money too, right?

This does a good job of humanizing these students. Our issue is with government policies allowing this exploitation to happen, and not desperate families.

Indian recruiting company with Indian agents lying to Indian students... Why won't the Indian government do something about this? 🙄 Worst part is the non-Indians in Canada, who have nothing to do with this, are affected by the housing and employment problems created by this issue.
