For those who don't know, this song is in memory of Joe Hughes, Ren's best friend, who committed suicide when they were in their early 20's by jumping from Menai Bridge. My understanding is that this performance was also done on Menai, and it's a shattering performance.

It's great seeing other people lured in with Hi Ren and then discovering these duets, and all the other amazing songs he's released. Hi Ren is amazing on its own, but when you actually hear his voice like this you understand why Sony signed him (before dropping him when he got sick). I love everything he does, but I'm especially here for his voice singing like this. He reminds me so much of Jeff Buckley, although his range and style isn't the same (no one can match Buckley, let's be honest) there's something about his voice that just hits those buttons for me.

Perhaps. In the US it is pretty much impossible to busk for a living. Artists need to worry about how they will survive day to day. I think that kills a lot of their passion.
