I love these videos with Craig and Peter talking about innovations and cars from the past. They seem to thoroughly enjoy it as well which really adds to it!

I'm not a fan but respect the work they have done in f1 and motorsport as a whole. Legendary brand. People talk down on them but they are ignorant

Its a shame the Renault R.S 01 is such a historically significant car yet so forgotten about! :(

I remember these cars at Watkins Glen 1979. The sound of the engine was very low and quite literally shook my ribcage as it went by.

Even my Intel 286 computer had a "turbo" button. "Turbo" become part on the language.

They mention Ken Tyrrell... but do not mention that he actually signed a contract with Renault in (I think) 1974 to help develop and ultimately use a Renault turbo engine in F1. By 1976 Renault deemed the engine competitive, which more or less obliged Tyrrell to run it in a few grands prix. Tyrrell reneged on the agreement, claiming the engine was not competitive. Renault ultimately decided to do F1 on their own as a result (which may or may not have happened anyway had their 'partner' honoured the agreement they had). Tyrrell ended up the last of the F1 teams to find a turbo engine deal (in 1986, from Renault) before the 1.5 litre formula was heavily restricted (in 1987) and ultimately eliminated in 1989.

Can someone explain to.me what driveability means?.... I
@endapian Жыл бұрын
At the beginning the development of the turbo was difficult, in particular the delay time between the action of the driver on the accelerator and the response of the engine. It's complicated to accelerate in a curve when entering it when you want to have the power quickly after the exit!!!!

No real fan of F1 will hybridmotors 1,6 WTF is this. Hybrid Era is only about saving 1 Fuel. 2.Engine 3 Tyers. I want V10 back the Era where was no saving and only the Driver made the difference
@Thumbsupurbum6 жыл бұрын
Any real racing fan would be for hybrids. They are objectively faster. Have you not noticed all the new track records set this year alone? Hybrids are not all about saving fuel. That saved fuel means less weight, smaller engine is also, less weight. Less weight = more speed. All that sound in a V10 is just wasted energy. It might sound cool, but it's a colossal waste of energy. No one in the history of motorsports have won a race because their engine was louder. This is a case of less is more.

Yeah, today's F1 cars are so much lighter than 15 years ago.

You never watched F1 back in 2004 didnt you? The cars had Traction control, and the V10 engines were loud yes but nowhere near as powerful as the hybrids. Not to mention Schumacher kept on winning almost every race and people back then were getting bored of that

Curious Cat If they could care less then there's potential for them to care quite a lot. If they couldn't care less they have reached the minimum amount of caring.
