Rivals 1 has had a friggin sick even if small community, I'm glad to have been a part of it before the sequel ^~^ It kinda feels like, just big enough... And then rivals 2 is bringing in so many new people I bet this game is going to do amazing.
@meep7605Ай бұрын
I hope the Rivals 1 community continues to exist for a while, the game still has good player counts every day, it would also be real cool to run Rivals 1 and 2 tournaments side by side

Sparking zero is cool but it's definitely a for fun game instead of competitive, the training mode is very barebones and it has no cross play or rollback yet.
@thedavid1519Ай бұрын
That’s kinda disappointing tbh, still a looks like a fun game tho
@CalebantonАй бұрын
Unless they built it with rollback in mind, it’s probably never coming. It’s a lot of work and optimization
@mrnart_roaАй бұрын
The game has rollback netcode, though. The game is releasing only on one platform (Steam) initially, so you're technically right in saying there is no cross play. The eventual plan is to have console releases with cross play, but there's no guarantee they get around to that.

Hey, welcome to Rivals! I went the opposite way, I started with Rivals and went into Ultimate, so I know the feeling. One of the biggest tips I can give you is to focus on your movement. Smooth movement is the biggest key in this game, because it can be used in so many different ways. Head into training mode and practice until you feel super comfortable, and you should be alright, but also, don't stress over your winrate. Rivals is a tough game, but with a calm mind, it becomes a lot easier to manage If you want some help improving, or have any questions about the game, feel free to ask myself or really anyone in the community! The people in the Discord are especially helpful, and can offer plenty of tips and tricks to get you properly started. And stick with it! This game offers a lot more skill expression than Ultimate 😄

coming from melee this game feels great, having a really good time. My one concern is that at the moment crouch canceling in rivals 2 is a bit insane, even compared to melee's insane crouch cancel mechanics

i played some rivals 1 a long ass time ago and have basically no other platfighter experience besides dicking around in smash 4 when i was younger. the skill gap between me and literally everyone i fight is so crazy, i tried ranked mode to get some people that were closer to my skill but it was more like they were 10x better than me instead of 20x

I sorta play ultimate and it took me a while to get used to the feeling of rivals 2. But this is the first time where i actually want to try hard and learn to play well. With ultimate i just mess around with using fun characters

The fact that Clairen's hits stun EVERY TIME; and that you can wobble like fucking ice climbers from melee (which ludwig should fucking know about since he played melee) disheartens me
@NadiaDelcatty-pg6fsАй бұрын
Clairen has to space her moves properly to get that stun
@RandomDude647Ай бұрын
you can't wobble unless the opponent lets you. aka if you are landing chain grabs, it means the opponent isn't teching your pummels, and if you are comboing the same move into itself over and over, it means the opponent isn't DIing and SDIing well
@S0larisPrimeАй бұрын
When you throw someone they experience a period of invulnerability to grabs. The only way to get past that invulnerability is to use a pummel first. That means the grabbed player has a chance to break out by guessing the right pummel
@RulytashoАй бұрын
The smash player decided to be toxic the first match, haha Also, remember you have a parry, it is very useful with people that are trying to be always on your face.

It looks fun but I can't help but feel like it's a clunkier smash with less complexity in interactions. The kos look easier too
@ofischialАй бұрын
I feel like it feels less clunky actually. Feels like I can actually control my character
@IntermissionVAАй бұрын
It's significantly less clunky than Ultimate, what are you smokin. dropping through those sticky smash ultimate platforms alone is enough to put RoA2 in the lead
@PowerHungryFoolАй бұрын
Compared to melee or P+ there is a bit less depth or complexity. Put it up against almost any other platform fighter and it's quite a bit more complex. That "clunkiness" you mention is going to be dependent on the player and what games they have a background in. RoA 2 has a 6 frame input buffer. Melee and P+ have no buffer. Ultimate has a unique buffering system. Brawl and 4 have 10 frame buffers. Guilty Gear Xrd and Strive have 3 frame buffers. Going from one game to another with a large difference in input buffering often gives a feeling of "clunkiness" due to the buffering causing misinput where you don't want them or dropped inputs where another game's buffer would register them. In general, you just gotta play the game a bit and get used to it.
@jonald11Ай бұрын
This is way better than ultimate. Ult is a terrible competitive game
@curse5697Ай бұрын
feels buttery smooth, way better than ultimate with the input lag it has, it's like a less complicated Melee.
