Years ago I started calling MTV, Rob Dyrdek TV. I didn't even realize just how right I was until now. Sad that MTV got so far away from its roots the company became lost and begged Rob become their life raft. I didn’t realize how much I knew about this kid when we were skating in LA. He was just a kid with unmistakable ambition. Cheers to Rob. Thanks Patrick for your incredible narration and research. If all your stories are done this way, I’m your fan. Excited to take a bit of time to check out your channel. 💯🎉🕺🏾Aloha 🤠🤙🏾

I grew up watching him, my older brother was obsessed with all his shows. And I work overnight at a hospital taking care of patients that need overnight surveillance, and when they sleep I always change the channel to mtv and it’s always ridiculousness I watch it at time or I’m on my phone but having the show in the background bring some kind of nostalgic comfort

I miss Fantasy Factory so much. I stayed up till 2 AM all the time watching new episodes and re-runs back when I was in middle school.

I always wondered why rediculousness was always on MTV. Anytime I went to a hotel or something I would put that on as background noise, never really paying that much attention to it.

Rob rode that MTV wave to the shoreline. Goes to show that it just takes one person to underestimate another for that initial momentum to go even further. Sometimes it takes doubt from one to create belief for multitudes of those who seek success.

MTV is dead as a network, and Rob was brilliant at hosting their funeral. His content was actually fun for viewers, he seemed like a genuinely decent guy, albeit with an ego, and he kept up other hustles on the side, very effectiveky capitalizing on what he had done already. A perfect tale of the rare instances where the little guy gets ahead. Good for him. Hope he's still happy.

He started out as one though, which was the whole point. Thanks for having reading comprehension. @@ThePeacePlant

FINALLY!! I've been waiting for someone to explain how he pulled playing Ridiculousness like that! This was not what I was expecting, at all, I would love fantasy factory or throwbacks for a month that play Rob & Big. Always enjoyed his shows honestly, especially tripping shrooms. 😂😂

Great video! Thanks for the recap with the actual numbers. I was right there with it as a kid, but never knew the scope, data, or understood the context.

Loved Rob and Bigs chemistry. they were just best buds out there doing what they wanted and everybody loved it. Big would be so happy to see Rob becoming so successful. RIP Big

Always loved this dude back in the day. Rob and Big was just amazing and wholesome, I knew part of his business savvy with multiple companies but I had no idea he had MTV by the balls until last year when I saw Ridiculousness was literally the only thing left being aired.

yeah I stopped watching MTV when I noticed they had nothing else airing. When I sub'd to Philo, I wanted MTV because they had a big catalog from the 90s but they just showed ridiculousness. So I canceled that shit.
