How Robert Muldoon Took Down Rexy The Tyrannosaurus - Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park

While the film adaptation of Jurassic Park was more or less an accurate representation of its source material, there happens to be a lot of scenes absent in the movie
that were present in the book. After the park is compromised, Robert Muldoon is asked by Hammond to take a gas jeep and bring back his Grandchildren personally, and
in the film he's accompanied by Dr.Sattler on this mission. However in the novel it is actually Donald Gennaro who comes with Robert Muldoon to assess the damage of
Dennis Nedry's sabotage when the Rex is freed. Ed Regis, the character who basically inspired Gennaro's film version, is the one to get eaten by the T.rex paddock
after its escape and the lawyer is actually represented as a far more heroic type than what we saw in the movie. The two set out into Jurassic Park but
are actually on the hunt for locating the Tyrannosaurus and getting it back into its pen. The Rex has already wondered into other dinosaurs paddocks and Mr.Arnold,
Dr.Wu and Hammond want the creature contained asap.
This video is on the two Tyrannosaur Hunters and their mission to get Rexy in Michael Crichton Jurassic Park and doesn't feature Indomus at all. Now some Tyrannosaur Facts about this are that Mommy's Very Angry and the Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom Dinosaurs should run away from the Jurassic Park Rexy which is also known as Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom Rexy or even Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom Tyrannosaurus Rex from the movie. We all love the Must Go Faster Scene from the Jurassic Park Must Go Faster part of the movie where we see a demonstration of Tyrannosaur Speeds and learn about this Thrasher Tyrannosaurus and the other Jurassic Park Carnivores or Jurassic World Carnivores as they are called now. This features Jurassic Park Robert Muldoon heavily and also goes into detail about The Lost World Roland Tembo. How was my illiteracy this time? I think it was a solid A personally but I don't know I've done better in other descriptions before. Do your thing keywords and tags! :D

One thing that always amused me about the novel is just how often Grant and the kids, trying to make their way back to the Visitor's Center and civilization, keeps passing by people that could have helped them, without either party realizing it. This scene is another great example of this -- the Rex's attention wasn't on the microceratopsians in the treetops, but on Grant and the kids floating by in a raft.

Same here. It also amused me how often the characters could have discovered Nedry, but then something comes up. When Nedry was JUST LEAVING the Visitor Center, Muldoon happened to be looking out the window, but then Arnold has a temper tantrum and Muldoon turns away, missing the Jeep Nedry stole. And then when Harding, Elli and Gennaro were following the compies that were going towards Nedry's corpse, Arnold radios them to get back to base. 😹

Another thing I loved about this scene in the book -- at least the part where they find Nedry -- is how it contrasts with the part where they find all that's left of Regis. When they find Regis' leg, Muldoon states that "I guess we better bring this along. Doesn't seem right to leave it here." He gets Gennaro to look in the Jeep for something to wrap it in, and the two end up putting it in a tarp. When they find Nedry, Muldoon steps over the body without seeming to think about it, gets what he wants out of Nedry's wrecked Jeep, and leaves without a care. "Let's go." "What about him?" Gennaro asks, indicating Nedry's body. "What about him?" Muldoon replies. "We've got things to do." Both hop back into their Jeep and leave, and Gennaro looks back to see compys resume feeding on the body.

@@spirittammyk Eh, in the book he really only sped up it's inevitable failure. The book makes a major point of the fact that the dinosaurs were capable of breeding, and that both the compies and the raptors had actually escaped long before. Not to mention, the underlying issues that lead to Nedry to get involved with Dodgson in the first place was the poor pay and overworked conditions he was put through, constantly having to completely rewrite entire systems of code to appease Hammond's demands. Not to mention, everyone treated him like crap because he was fat. He was quite literally abused by the company he worked for, and likely had no legal ways out based on the secretive nature of the project. One could only imagine the contracts he had to sign on before starting to work for them. Not saying that Nedry is innocent, but just that Hammond created his own enemy, and the fall of Jurassic Park - especially in the novel - was far more complex than Nedry's actions.

I have a double sentiment to this. On one end I'd love to see a Jurassic Park movie portraying the novel as accurate as possible (no character/scene cuts). A remake if you will. On the other end I feel that such a remake might do a disservice to the already amazing movie, as if it would implicate the original movie wasn't good enough. Besides, no-one can portray the characters as good as the original cast. No John Hammond without sir Richard Attenborough. No Alan Grant without Sam Neill. No Ian Malcom without Jeff Goldblum. No Muldoon without Bob Peck. It'll be nigh impossible to replicate that quality of cast and acting.

I would love a new Jurassic Park movie as faithful to the novel as possible and that would not exclude 1993, as it would continue to exist and pass the magic that passes and would always remain in our memories. There are a lot of good actors, it's not just the actors from Jurassic Park 1993 who are the best. Jurassic World is a reboot of Jurassic Park that is masquerading as a sequel, and everyone loved and accepted the movie and loved it from 1993; is a continuation, but it is a fact that the plot imitates the plot of Jurassic Park, and even more so in Fallen Kingdom and The Lost World, where the plot of both are even more similar than the plots of Jurassic World and Jurassic Park.

Considering how different some of the characters were in the book, it could still work fine with new actors. John Hammond at least would be easy to recast, since his character came across as very unsympathetic. He cared less that people were dying than about how he was wanting to try again on another island.

Tragic waste of an incredible character. Imagine how good TLW would've been if they'd brought Muldoon back as the head hunter instead of Roland, or, even better, used them both. I always felt It would have been more in character for Muldoon to have secreted one of his double rifles to the island broken down into concealable parts. Seeing as he had secreted the the explosives in his office. It always seemed abit dumb that in the book They Lawyer has the ammo and Muldoon has the Launcher. But In the lost world movie I think it would have been a good twist for Rowland Tembo To have actually Blasted the Male Rex dead with his double rifle, And then felt remorse for his kill and Darted the she-rex instead.

@KlaytonFioriti
@KlaytonFioriti 7 жыл бұрын
It totally would have been. The novel reveals that Muldoon begged Hammond for weapons for ages and even threatened to quit unless he was allowed to have the rocket launcher. Hammond was always incredibly interested in keeping his dinosaurs safe and alive and, in the books anyways, valued their lives more than his staff from what I gather. The only time its bothered me in the films was in Jurassic Park 3 so far. Some people complain about The Lost World but the film always stated that they were only going in to tranquilize the creatures and take them to the mainland. There are lethal weapons used on screen, the SPAS-12 and a HK variant I believe, but those weren't used until after the group had been attacked by the Tyrannosaurus at night and the hunters were firing them while running away. Now in the third film, my God, they specifically brought Explosive rounds and fired them off at the Spinosaurus and its not hurt (I guess they didn't hit it?) but if that was the case why isn't half the jungle on fire??? Thats the one movie I always thought was a letdown after being teased with such fire power only to get snubbed.

Kevin Collver we don't really know what the _Spinosaurus_ 's sail served the animal for, the most likely theory being that it helped to warm up the animal. Still, it's unlikely that even if it got shot there by an explosive, the animal would have suffered too much damage. There should be no important organs in that area. Sure, it would have pissed it off really bad and cause blood loss, but far from an incapacitating blow.
@strangesignal9757
@strangesignal9757 6 жыл бұрын
Klayton Fioriti It's not shown exactly what was used to shoot the _Spinosaurus._ Most likely a normal firearm rather than an explosive, because of the lack of an explosive sound. Just a couple of "bang" noises were heard. The damage it could have done to the dinosaur depends entirely on where the shots landed, if they did at all. Many people have survived shots to the head just because the projectile had missed important areas. I agree that the explosives not being used was quite a let down. The movie definitely lacks in comparison to the previous two ones, but it's still a good one. BTW, nice video, man. Subbed ;)

After the Rex is asleep by the lake, when Timmy checks the dinosaur count there is only 1 remaining Rex, and that is the juivie Rex as seen by Hammond before he falls foes the hill and so on. So does that mean the adult Rex, drowned?! When I read the book I was amazed by how the animal moved it’s tongue around in search for Timmy and lex, scary, but chilling entertaining in a way. Raft Scene 3. Carnivores smelling like rotten garbage 4. Characters closer to how they are in the book (a darker Hammond would be cool to see) Yes it sounds crazy, but there are enough things to make the remake different and more true to the source material than the original

Sure, a lot of scenes were excluded, but the scenes that were kept were fairly faithful. Now, The Lost World novel vs the film is a different story lol.

The first film is pretty much a streamline version of the book with every major part of the plot being used with only minor action sequences deleted or characters merged. The second book is radically different from its counterpart but all in all the first film was a pretty accurate adaptation as novels go. Not sure why people don't think it is
@josephreitzcomposer6855
@josephreitzcomposer6855 7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the only thing the second movie kept from the book was certain lines of dialogue, SOME of the characters, the trailer scene and the idea of two groups on the island, one to do research and the other to steal something from the island (book was dino eggs, movie was whole dinos). While we're on the subject, I like how they combined Arby and Kelly to make one child in the movie.

JP1 was way scarier. Rexy looked WAY more menacing. And I would put 20 exclamation marks on the end of that menacing, And It almost seemed like the Lost world wanted more suspense and tension but in my opinion, their execution was not all too perfect. The T rex jeep chase scene was way more suspenseful with the mirror illustrating how close the Trex was. But the lost world had its moments like the raptors in the grass part. I think the less amount of people added the real spook to that scene but that is my opinion.

Always loved Muldoon with how level-headed he was in comparison to Hammond, Arnold, and Wu who all couldn't get their heads out of their asses about the state of the park until their lives were the ones on the line. Wish he had fared as well in the movie.

No matter what type of content you cover I am always interested to hear what you have to say. I have been a fan of the JP series since I was a kid and you inspired me to finally pick up the books. I finished book 1 in a few days and I am loving it! Though I am a bit let down so far with the second book since its so vastly different from the movie I grew up with. I haven't finished it yet and have not even gotten half way through so I guess I will wait to see how it turns out. Anyway, love your content, I'll subscribe!

Just from watching this, I like the book version of Muldoon better than the movie version. Don't get me wrong: I love the movie. I grew up with the movie and wouldn't change it for the world, but looking at it now, Muldoon's death bothers me. From a writing perspective, his death in the movie bothers me since he has spent his role in the movie actively showing that he knows all about them and how they hunt and how they work... so it begs the question of why he'd make such a rookie mistake that gets him killed? I know it was for suspense that we as the audience knew something that he didn't... but it makes no sense that he didn't know it, not if he was the top raptor expert and hunter.

I just got done reading this...ALL of the adventures Grant and the children get into and this part were so tense! I really wish they would have included the entire raft sequence starting with grant sneaking the raft out of the shed and inflating it while the sleeping Rex is snoring over the corpse of a hadrosaur. God that was brilliant! They DID kind of recreate the water wall scene with the children as grant is discovering the electric car in the maintenance tunnel. I'm kind of glad they did not include the t-rex licking Tim and using his tongue like a prehensile trunk as that would have solidified the reptilian concept of the dinosaur when we now know that therapods are basically chickens and not as lizard like as they are portrayed in the book. Anyway, I've now watched ALL of your videos and I can say you do an amazing job rejuvenating the excitement from this franchise, for me atleast. Thankyou!

Another Easter Egg--- The part about the Tyrannosaurus trying to eat Tim and Lex behind a waterfall from the novel is reasonably played out in The Lost World. Only it's Burke (who gets successfully eaten), Nick, Kelly, and Sarah hiding from a Tyrannosaurus behind a waterfall in the film, rather than Tim and Lex in the novel.
