Yeah, many of the characters were "talented", but that doesn't mean that they never trained. Look at Neji. In part one, his entire philosophy was about people being slaves to destiny and never being able to escape their positions in life despite the fact that: A) He beat a member of the main branch of the Hyuuga clan, even though, by his logic, that shouldn't be possible, and B) He learned a technique that only the members of the main branch are supposed to be able to execute. It's rarely ever about "Hard Work" being better or "Talent" being better, it's a combination of both that really matters.
