Really enjoyed seeing how you make coffee and tea! It is such an elegant way to make and enjoy both, rather than my boring electric coffee brewer and tea bag plunked in a cup of hot water way! Your videos are very interesting and you speak English very well. Thanks for sharing!

Lovely video. Im not turkish but my husband is and his mother always makes so good traditional turkish coffee. It's pretty strong and sweet but have a nice smooth flavour. She boils water with coffee and sugar together. One little cup of water for 2 teaspoons of coffee and sugar to taste (usually 1-2 teaspoons) and stir it together before she adds it to the heat. Brings it up gently to temperature on medium heat and takes of the foam that forms on top and adds this to the cup you will drink from. After a while some white foam show just before it boils, then its time to remove from the heat. Done! It takes a little time to make, but its worth it! :)

hello, I am your new follower, you asked about Turkish coffee in this video. Let me answer as a Turk, the upper part of our coffee pot is wider, but yours does the same. coffee, optionally sugar and cold water are put in the coffee pot. It is heated until hot without boiling. It is important not to scatter the foam that forms on it. It should not boil in it. Then it is placed in the small cup, and the foam is placed on top with a spoon. Bon Appetit.

You are so sweet and speak English so well! I remember my mom and grandmother sending coffee to relatives in Romania (we live in the USA) in the 70’s because they could not get it. They would send it with friends traveling there because they could not mail it. The Turkish coffee maker is so beautiful! I actually have the same glass tea pot you do! I use it as a decorative plant holder though, lol. I like to use tea bags in a mug but it’s a lot more homey and romantic your way. I love your videos so keep on making them!

Since I live in a small apartment, I don't want to waste precious counter space on an electric coffee maker. I use a stainless steel coffee percolator to make coffee on my stovetop. It's the same kind of coffee percolators that were commonplace in American homes from the late 1800's to the 1970's, except mine is much smaller than a coffee percolator a family would use. Larger ones can make as many as 12 cups but mine makes 1 or 2 cups. This is ideal for me because I live by myself. The 3-cup model that I have can be bought online for about $28.00.

Cook coffee in percolator. Have small pot with two tea spoon of thick cream. When coffee is cooked heat thick cream. Keep stirring until hot, don't burn. Add a little hot coffee to cream. Whisk until creamy/frothy. Pour into your cup. Top off with coffee. Drink. No sugar needed. Beautiful.

You can mix some chicory with the coffee. That way you can lower the amount of coffee you drink. Just dilute the coffee and add some chicory. 🙂 I've never had chicory by itself but coffee manufactures sometimes blend the two together. Give it a try.

I spent two summers in Moscow and "Leningrad" the 80's. Loved my time travelling through the former USSR. Best tea I ever had. I still drink Russian tea daily. Coffee--sorry to say -- wasn't very good there in the 80's. The ice cream, on the other hand, phenomenal! I now use a French-press for my coffee.

Awesome video! I lived in Jugoslavija, but when I went to live with my uncle in Birobidzhan for a while, he begged my family to send a good Djezva with me. And 10 kilos of Bosnian coffee LOL He was high in the Party, but even he had a hard time getting real coffee. We drink a lot of tea... but old style... black tea, and the water is from a 5-litre heirloom Samowar our Olga brought with her from Smolensk. My uncle in Birobidzhan sends slabs of pressed tea for us to use. Again, thank you! And... Gagarin was my idol growing up!

Lovely video. I was amazed to see that you use the same coffee maker I have at home (not the Turkish one) and drink it out of exactly the same glass jug! What a good idea to spice your coffee. Thanks for showing us how you do it. I love the traditional Turkish coffee. The aunt of a friend of mine, who was from Dubrovnik, made Turkish coffee and after you had drunk it, she turned the cup upside down and read your future in the traces the coffee left when falling. Thanks for a most interesting video.

In the U.S. all my life I have had coffee of every way of making it. I have had my own coffee machines and different devices. I like my coffee dark and strong, with cream, and surprisingly (even to me!), my favorite way to make coffee is with a pot to catch the coffee, a "nut bag" for fine straining of nut milks and other things layered in between two different small strainers. I just pour the boiling coffee that has been brewed in a thick glass jar for at least 3-5 minutes through the strainers (OR coffee that has been brewed in cold water for some hours is just as good or better) into the pot. By strainers I mean fine mess stainless steel, just about 3 inches to 4 inches in diameter. Delicious! I have tried almost everything including many expensive devices and this way is my favorite! Who guessed? The least expensive way to make it, in my opinion, is the lowest cost way, though I do pay extra for ORGANIC coffee and have my own grinder to grind it. (Please no present for me, thank you!)
