How safe is it to be a living kidney donor?

As I am just in the first stages of registering to be a kidney donor, this presentation has really been wonderfully informative. Having had some doubts as to whether or not I will qualify, this has answered a lot of questions for me. If I do make it through the process and get accepted it will certainly be a privilege to meet with Dr. Landsberg. While altruism is a great trait, I still believe that the heroes in all of this are the members of the transplant team. While there is a risk to being a donor, the responsibility that lies with the team is tremendous.
