Talking about glades there’s a lot of areas like that where I hunt but all the pressure is in the bottom but all the cover and glades are in the upper 1/3 and the bedding in those glade areas were insane and the trails connecting are thicker sapling thickets. First year hunting this specific area. Very excited!!

Y’all should do an update on what happened with that scrape that you cut all the limbs close to that area?

Cameras are a tool that if used properly can teach you so much! It sounds crazy but there are a lot of different kind of scrapes and after awhile you can start to recognize them. Most scrapes are not any good for hunting but teach you a great deal about how deer use a area

I have a question it just snowed here in Maryland it’s late season but I didn’t go out this weekend bc my access is screwed bc the noise from walking on the icy snow I was scared of bumping all the deer off the ridge any pointers or anything I could try or something

@@andrewblair4863 I ain’t ya boy and I been hunting here 45 years and killed biggest buck by a youth 1993 146 5/8 Dixie Deer classic scored and I’ve killed a wall full of 150 + since I was 13 and killed my first deer / buck 1993 that made front page Raleigh news and observer / Gold leaf farmer etc. it was a great accomplishment as a 13 year old and it lit a fire under me to be best hunter I could be since & I can assure u that I live on a farm in wake county and the deer here in wake co. Start breeding as early as October and they will continue to breed as the rut trickles through Jan & into February… str8facts ! It’s December 15th and bucks are Running around looking a doe in estrus ! I kill bucks working scrapes from October until January 1st ! I know that there’s does that come in heat as early as September and doe’s come into estrus from start to finish of deer season ! December is when u will find your nocturnal mature bucks midday searching for a any doe that may be in estrus that hasn’t been bred or a doe young doe coming into her first estrus cycle ! I know that u need to fo some research and understand how the rut and estrus cycles work and there is no first and second Rut here in central North Carolina we have a slow trickle rut throughout the whole season because our does don’t have to face such harsh winters as up north and so genetically & biologically / Geologically the fawns survive to carry on such a breeding cycle! I can assure u I see scrapes as early as august and I can tell u there are does bred in September & October / November & December/ January & February… you hunt your hunt and I will hunt mine and I will observe what I see and believe as fact and u do the same !

So much confusion about the RUT. The rut happens every year at same time typically Oct - Dec in most areas. Now peak action can happen anywhere during that time at any specific time.... all it takes is a hot doe. The actual peak of the rut (time frame when most does come into estrous) is around a 10-14 day period and this is pretty much the same time frame every year.... and it intensifies the further North you go. So much over analyzing goes on every year. If it's Nov - Dec and you're not seeing rutting activity MOVE to a different spot

When you mentioned the pond in the question it reminded me on public here In north Mississippi I hear a lot of people hunting lake edges. You think there’s a reasoning why to hunt water in the fall/winter?

I have a feeling cameras will be outlawed on public one day because if one hunter has 10-12 cell cams imagine how congested the local public will be. No one wants to admit it but honestly cameras don’t belong in the woods. I have cameras by the way but struggle with the woodsmen ship about it. Just saying.

Scrapes are just a natural corn pile in the woods so to speak! It’s a specific target for a deer to hit.

Take away the cameras and how many woodsmen and hunters will still be in the deer woods and being successful ???
