When Shaq was 12 or 13 he was about 6 7 with huge feet. His mom couldn't afford the special shoes he needed. Somehow he found a shoe store owner who gave him shoes at a discount. To this day, Shaq travels to that same store for his shoes. A few years ago, Shaq found out that there was a young kid who couldn't find shoes due to his huge size. Shaq called up the family and took them to his favorite shoe store. Shaq bought the kid several pairs of custom shoes and several custom suits.

Shaq is a genuinely good man. There are constantly stories coming out about how he' be in a store and just walk up to random kids and ask them what they want and he'll buy it for them.

He endorses and patronizes companies that he actually uses now and has used in the past. He has a deal with "The General" (economy) car insurance because, when he first started driving, it was the only one he could afford. They helped his get started driving in college when he bought his first car and he STILL does commercials for them. It's why he still shops at Walmart. He could afford to shop there when he was poor, so he still supports them now.

I read an article that said he tries to go to Walmart daily, when his schedule allows and spend a minimum of 100.00 on a child. I've also seen a video of him buying a boy a bike. He saw the boy looking at them for quite a while. So he asked the mother if it was okay to bike her son one.

You guys should watch the "SEC Storied" documentary named "Shaq and Dale" showing how Shaq and his college coach, Dale Brown met and how Shaq thanks him for everything he now has. It's a great film showing a young Shaq growing into the guy he eventually became.

His sons are 6'9" and 6'10" i think. They are good at basketball and the one who went to LSU had heart surgery so his professional career aspirations have slowed. Shaq always says his kids need 3 degrees to get at his money so thats why everyone loves him and his family

you should check out the video where he visits his old shoe store to buy dress shoes. pretty cool. that part about him spending one million at the car dealership - i heard it on conan's podcast where he said he had just signed his first big contract or something and so he wasn't super famous yet. the salesperson didn't know who he was so just questioned him (or maybe he did and it was a sales tactic), and he took it personal so he bought 3 cars
