How Should A Company Offer Financing Options?

Depending on the business, if you don't accept CC's or financing in many businesses, you will fail period. Your finances are your business. However if other people chose and want to finance that is not a moral question and that is their decision. What I am saying is if your products are pricey enough where financing would make your business do better, than by all means do it. Accepting CC's is a no brainer. Dave may hate them and they may cause a lot of issues, but too many people use and depend on them for most business not to take them nowadays. I mean how many businesses currently can you think of anywhere that say cash only? Some very low profit margin business won't but they usually take debit cards.

In all fairness, when my wife and I went to a Dave Ramsey speaking engagement years ago, we used a credit cars on his website to do it. I think we even bought FPU with a credit card. It gave a disclaimer that they only accept debit cards, but the purchase will go through. So to say “we don’t accept credit cards” isn’t true.

If you accept Visa and Mastercard debit cards you have no choice but to accept Visa and Master credit cards. You can't have one without the other. However, he doesn't accept American Express cards at all on his website or in the Everydollar app but I did buy the book using my American Express card through Paypal. So you can't really stop people from using credit cards if you accept debit cards or Paypal.

@@JWalton314 I know why he doesn't like AMEX as he has said the story many times. However what is ironic is MOST of their popular cards are charge cards, not credit cards. You are forced to pay them off every month.

If you've been listening to D. Ramsey then why are you talking about financing a car? He's completely against car payments. All of his millionaire studies show none of them financed vehicles. Never have more than 50% of your annual take home income in things that go down in value.

Please just make sure the financing doesn't capitalize interest at the start of the agreement. Allow customers to refinance. Allow customers to save money by paying off early. Then obviously, make pulls credit checks fair and provide low interest rates accordingly.
