My two kids are now 24 and 20 and let me tell you. They were something else at 18 months and 4 years old. I DID not, repeat have terrible twos. It was when they were 18 months and again at 4. I talked to my son more (the 2nd baby) but I also wore that tale out. I'm grateful, my daughter finished Hampton and my son is in 3rd year at Cornell. I didn't get that many spankings but my husband got enoughfor everybody. He turned out GREAT!

No you take her out the class and tell her if she's gonna behave like this then we are no longer coming here. It's really not that hard. Let her know there are gonna be consequences to her actions.

A latin parent would've pulled her out the class, looked around for cameras above and gave her a lite "pa pow" = a lite smack on her hand or tush.

I really wish I would have gotten through on the car line because what I would have told him to do is give the child a warning after the first time she does it and let her know if you continue to act like this we're going to leave and we're going to leave because you're not being nice and you're not listening, after she doesn't you tell her now we're leaving because you're not listening and you're being rude. Kids need to learn consequences and instead of just taking her and leaving or instead of bargaining with her she just needs to understand we're in control and when you do things you're not supposed to do you're going to get in trouble for it.

I have a 5 y.o boy and 1 y.o girl... what we have done is give the child options. Even though there yer options they get to choose and have a "control" even though the option is what you allowed to happen. so if she's not going to participate she has the option of listening and staying or leaving... good luck.

She's testing you. It comes down to a battle of wills because she's now at the age where she's discovered she actually has one. Time to bring out the Naughty Chair or Time Out coupled with clear explanation of boundaries, and when they are crossed, employ consequence along with instruction that the child should apologize for misbehaving after they've literally calmed down and have had several seats. I can testify proof positive that a little one can comprehend and act accordingly by 18 months if mom and dad are patient, consistent, clear, and firm enough and stick to repetition, repetition, repetition. Eventually it will become ingrained... just try not to lose your poker face when those little lips form their apology "I'm sowwy" or "Cuze me" - it'll almost make you forget what a mess they were being just 10 minutes before.

In the case for Ebro, yes give her a choice as you did. Either you want to be here and if so you have to follow the rules or you don't want to be here and then we'll leave. Some would have done an immediate smacking of the hands as response to the rude behavior of screaming the place down then followed up with the choices. Everyone feels differently about this. Some kids respond better to a spanking, than verbal responses to their behavior or the removal of toys/activities. (Obviously when it comes to toddlers perhaps smacking their hand(s) or telling them they may get a "pow pow" may deter them). Though as they get older the objective is not for them to have an unhealthy fear of their parents or to be subjected to abuse. I say this because when teenagers behave poorly (i.e. bullying, stealing, murdering, selling/using drugs or alcohol, raping people, not doing well in school) people always turn and ask "Where were the parent(s), why didn't they do a better job raising their kid(s)?" So it starts from a young age and of course there are many potential extenuating factors that could derail a child from being a productive member of society (much to the dismay of many parents today). This is simply a matter of finding the right discipline/correction that will curb a child's innate desire to simply do as they please.

These parents are absolutely STUPID. Ebro - you have to respect your child. She was having a bad day. You don't know what her thought process was especially when kids get used to something or someone and they suddenly go away, they become confused, sad or angry. She's 2 so she cannot EXPRESS herself. Let her be and you'll see she will find her way back.
