The only correct way to get into fighting games is by playing my favorite and shaming others for playing diffrent titles. Unfortunately, that changes depending on my mood when I wake up, so I would go with the safe option and play sailor moon for the super famicon.

I think the biggest factor is playing what your group/clique vibes most with. I like SF6 most, but my guys are Tekken-heads and it's a very fun game anyway so we play Tekken and I always choose playing together with my dudes over ranked online randoms alone.

True but if you don’t have friends that play ranked can be a lot of fun because not a lot of people would spend 70 or 60$ for a game in a genre they don’t like. But you can always join a discord for the game and find people which would make it a lot more fun

Good video, if a little late for the context. Its good to see this kind of videos helping people to get into the FGC's moving train. However you should also include Guilty Gear Strive and Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising. Both of them are currently stronger than MK1 in participation and tournaments (heavily quesioning the status of MK1 as one of "The Big Three"), and they also represent the anime side of the fighting game community, not a minor role.

I was thinking about making a guilty gear strive video. I haven’t played granblue fantasy versus rising. If anything I might do one on multiverses or if I get king of fighters or maybe killer instinct

LOL dude stop, MK1 is still one of the big 3. MK games always had low numbers in tournies because the MK community and FGC always bash the MK games, and anime fighters are super niche other than DBFZ. And don't bring me the launch of MK1, because not only the launch was fine and heavily exaggerated by the FGC, but when SF5, SFXT, T7 and TTT2 had terrible launches nobody said that SF or Tekken aren't part of the big 3. Again, it's FGC bias, and the MK community being toxic like usual. This mentality happened since MK9, nothing new.

@@KuminsU I honestly value Granblue Rising more than most of the "old school" ones, and much much more than the platform side. The system is really effective, easy to get into but truly hard to master, the inputs are super simple and very interesting (although I think they could have used less buttons). By far the best fighting game for begginers, and not a bad one either for serious competitors. See Diaphone videos about it, he's an amazing content creator, a many games player, a great fighter in SF and others 2d games, and super into Rising for competitive reasons too.

Sf6 is the game to get into if your new at fighting games imo character guides can give you a simple gameplan to build off of classic of modern and there is beginner lobbys if you scroll down in the battle hub list!

I’ve been playing street fighter 6 for the first time but I’ve been using modern controls and I just wanted to know if you’d advise against that for the long run.

For a beginner i would recommend using Modern controls. Just so you can learn the fundamentals, like when to DP, Footsies, how to punish and how frame data works. Than when you get comfortable with that, you can slowly start using motion inputs in combo's or in neutral so you get more used to those kinds of inputs during a match. And eventually you will feel more comfortable turning it off completely. If you decide to learn the game with classic controls, you will fight more against yourself/your own inputs, than actually playing the game. This can be more frustrating, But that is just my opinion.

I agree with serka but at some point motion inputs are integral for street fighter and all other fighting games (other than smash). That’s how I started but motion inputs are something you could get into earlier

@@KuminsU Not for all fighting games. In Tekken only a few characters use motion inputs (mostly Mishimas), while in other games like new Granblue, the simple method is the intended one, reccomended by the pro players and the devs, while the motion one is just optional. Some new big games in development are also designing their inputs to be simple by default: the major example is Project L (Also known as 2XKO), the fighting game for the world of League of Legends, developed by Riot.

Specifically for Street Fighter, the traditional inputs are objectively better for most of the characters. Modern inputs are still good and reccommended for beginers, but you should try to gradually change into traditional inputs. This is specially true if you use characters like Blanka, Guile, Honda or Kimberly who win the least from modern. If you use shotos (Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Luke), the one button Dragon Punch is a huge advantage, but your game plan will have to focus heavily in reactions. Finally, some characters like ChunLi, Lily and Zangief win big from modern controls, so you can keep playing modern way more time before hitting the ceiling and needing to change into motion inputs.

@@ardidsonriente2223 simple controls do less damage I meant motion inputs more as doing inputs in the d pad instead of using one direction and pressing a button. Simple inputs are faster but give you less options and does less damage but simple controls still are an option just not what I’d recommend. A lot of games like Tekken are always going to have motion controls or manual inputs not all games will have simple controls like mk1 and I don’t think guilty gear does but correct me if I’m mistaken.

MK1 is the best for beginners and for everyone really. Not only it has an amazing roster, but the gameplay is fantastic also, and it's really not slow at all, and Kameo system add a ton of variety and is actually better than almost all assist-based fighting games ever, because you know that your teammates aren't gonna be equal and the Kameos are indeed just assists, unlike MVC2, MVC3 or DBFZ. Also MK1 has the best Ranked mode in Kombat League, unlike SF6 which has the placement matches and Tekken 8 which recently got the prowess system which really damage the skill gap in both games.

Mk1 is the best for everything but the mechanics ngl like the moves look cool the roster is cool the campaign is cool but the game feels slower and I don’t agree with the assists being better than mvc

@@KuminsU It's slower compared to other games but on it's own it's not slow at all. MK11 was much slower than this. And the assists are better than MVC because in MVC characters which you think would be equal to their teammates end being just assist chars and that's it, same with DBFZ, so the teams are not inclusive enough. MK1 is actually honest with the team building as the assist there are meant from the start to be assists only.
