My mom is a psychologist. One of her patients is a 12 year old boy who was assaulted by his 45 year old teacher. His own parents didn't see what the big deal was for several months until my mom had explained it to them. People genuinely don't believe that assault can traumatize someone if the assailant was a woman and that speaks to a huge moral failing in us as a people.

My mom is a psychologist and she's seen so many people assaulted by women who don't get support, weren't believed when they came forward, etc. It's especially bad for girls assaulted by women, because we as a society don't want to acknowledge that's a thing that happens, but it's also awful for guys, who are presumed to be horny and therefore always into it. It's an ongoing issue and it's awful that in 2022 women like this are still doing things like this and getting away with it.
@bernienelson8926
@bernienelson8926 2 жыл бұрын
There's also an assumption that men can't be assaulted, in particular r-worded, because they won't have an erection unless they're consenting, whereas in reality the body can respond to things without our consent or control, and a person's body can seem to be aroused even when they don't want to be.
@morganqorishchi8181
@morganqorishchi8181 2 жыл бұрын
@@bernienelson8926 Yeah, my mom's had to explain that to people before. What's really awful and is one of the few things that's made her think about quitting is that she's had to explain this to parents arguing their son wasn't r-worded because he was 'into it'. The kid in question was 12. The assailant was 45. My mom came home and cried and genuinely thought about quitting her job. How do you explain to parents that their son was r-worded? How do you go on in life knowing society is failing male victims of assault like this? There are no easy answers. But in the end my mom just dug her heels in and kept arguing with them until they understood what had happened (which took two months, because these people could *not* understand that a boy wouldn't be into sex). Maybe that's all we can do, as individuals in a society that mistakes arousal for consent, is argue with people. It's better than doing nothing, at least. Side note but to those with vaginas reading this: getting wet is also not consent and I will deck any and all guys who claim otherwise. This defense is nonsense regardless of gender. If you didn't consent you didn't consent, period, the end, no further argument needed.

@@morganqorishchi8181 Absolutely agree. I feel for your mum, that boy is a child, regardless of what his body was doing he could not emotionally or psychologically consent to anything. And people seem to forget about random erections and morning wood - they are purely biological, there's nothing arousal-based about them. I was abused by my ex boyfriend, and he often used my own body against me. He would say that I might have been saying no, but my body was saying yes, and he wanted to 'respect my true self' by listening to my body instead of my words. I absolutely believed him because it was my first relationship, I was 19 and he was 28 so I trusted that he knew more then me. It was only later when I learned more about the biology of the human body that I realised it was bullshit. Our genitalia has uncontrolled reactions to stimuli just as any other part of our bodies can. We can become aroused in our sleep, when we are definitely in no place to consent to sexual activity. But there's this dangerous prevailing myth that if someone is wet or hard then that's as good as saying yes.

Sienna talking about how she was like “I don’t understand why he filmed with me if I SAd him.” Reminds me of when my English teacher couldn’t understand when we were discussing a poem about abuse, why a child would call an abusive adult a affectionate term. I’m a survivor of parental abuse and I responded by saying “well abusers are often kind to you after the abuse because they ‘feel bad’ and want to keep you under their control.” And he still couldn’t get it. Edit: I guess I should’ve worded this differently….if she was a guy and he was a girl, she would MORE THAN LIKELY be in jail. My point is that there’s a societal stigma around male victims but clearly there are women out there whose assaulters are still free from consequences…….. 2nd edit: I’ll edit again. I guess where I live (in Tennessee, USA) the majority of cases of SA that I’ve heard of have resulted in arrests. That’s just been my experience. I’m sorry if I offended anyone with my suggestion that most people go to jail for this. I guess my point is that society does absolutely believe female victims over male victims and if the roles had been reversed, there wouldn’t be as much victim blaming as I’ve seen in this situation.

As a DV and SA survivor this was extremely triggering..it is beyond grotesque that she is allowed to threaten both the victim and witnesses with zero repercussions. She is genuinely vile..and her confidence to lie and threaten makes me think she has done this to others..I hope Jack gets all the love, care, protection and justice he deserves. I hope the same for his family and friends too. If she is not held accountable she will definitely repeat this "alleged" behavior again and again.

I was in an abusive relationship for 2 YEARS! The argument of "why would they still hang out to me?" is such bs. Especially when you're young you can so easily convince yourself it's normal/ your fault or any other excuse. The same goes for if you witnes something happening to someone else. It's so easy to doubt yourself when you're scared of what happens if you were wrong about what you saw. And that's not even mentioning the fear of what happens when you confront the abuser/come forward in any way.

It’s really upsetting that jack’s story was taken out of his hands by his friend. As someone who has had to watch someone struggle through abuse/trauma and just support them, I KNOW how gut wrenching it is to allow them to have autonomy over their story. But it’s really wrong to “out” someone’s trauma, no matter how good your intentions. Jack then says he “needs to speak up and be stronger” which makes me think his friends are pressuring him to move forward with talking about or dealing with his trauma when he may not be ready. I completely believe Jack. I hope his friends and family can set their own anger and frustration with Sienna aside and just focus on supporting Jack through this trauma journey at the pace that is safest for him.

I'm so sorry that has been your experience, and I'm sure it was triggering for you; but I've worked in legal departments in the past and you'd be surprised how many more people get in trouble for that now especially in the workplace than say 10 years ago. I find it so odd and problematic that happened to you 3 times, I know where I worked in the past that is not a common thing. Again, not saying you're wrong or invalid just that I've seen and experienced more of the opposite situations than scenarios like yours which is awful :( What makes me mad is that women like Sienna Mae make true victims of SA seem unreliable. My heart goes out to DV/SA survivors whose abusers were women. I'll never forget it, I worked at a bar once and my co-worker's girlfriend was horribly abusive to her boyfriend. We tried to get him help and even an intervention because she lied to the cops and said he assaulted her when we saw her throw a glass tumbler at him then lunged; he tried to defend himself. We told the cops she was lying and we witnessed it but the cops didn't take our statement serious because we worked with him. And she looked awful but that was because she was being more physically out of control breaking things, and hurting herself. Anyway, they finally broke up, but I would fight w/customers who thought it was funny how a woman could be verbally and physically "abusing" her boyfriend.

If I hadn’t made it to my front door that opened onto a busy street I don’t know what would have happened. It never goes away.

They all did one-on-one therapy ever week but all of us kids also did group therapy every other week with a children’s psychologist. As all of us kids were part of their therapy and in the home with them, we were taught to recognize what wasn’t okay and to say no, leave the situation, and report it to our parents immediately. This actually turned out to be incredibly important knowledge for me just a few years later and will definitely be something I will teach my children when they are small.

I excused it because "he didn't know his own strength" "he got a little upset, don't we all" "he loves me right?" but the one that consistently kept me there was the idea that "you will never find someone who will love you if you leave. you will die alone if you leave him." I'm really tired of the "being young" excuse. I get that the brain is not fully developed until 25 but if you are over the age of 18( being generous) you are no longer too young to know. You are a grown up and know better. The world sees an 18 year old and above as an adult so that person should know how to "navigate" the world. People need to be held accountable and called out. These influencers I assume at a certain level have a team of people supposedly looking out for them and their best interest. Merch has to go through an approval process, putting up a video has to go through an approval process( maybe, idk, I would hope) did she surround herself with so many yes people that no one said no? Just no to everything. No one thought to say to her, "hey this kid/boy is passed out, maybe don't do what you are about to do because that is SA." Idiots. Just idiots. That poor young man. He already has to deal with the stigma of being a male SA victim and has to deal with the attacker denying it. What a shame.

It's mostly the frontal cortex developing. Cause/ effect relationships and higher reasoning are usually being solidified. It's like how teenagers don't usually think about how action now affects action later. Empathy is fully developed. A teen or young adult not fully thinking through that staying out until 3 or 4 in the morning will affect them the next day is completely understandable. I'm a young adult too and still make mistakes like that because it isn't fully connected. They know and understand boundaries. Sienna might not have though about how her actions would affect Jack in the long run, but she sure as hell understands that it was wrong to begin with. The way people responded to this situation & Jack shows how pervasive and insidious victim-blaming and the perfect victim myth in SA still is. I got into an argument with my sister because she was essentially dismissing Jack because he didn't react the way she thought he should and I did my best to challenge that. However, Sienna Mai exploited this and used it to her advantage to change the public's opinion of her. Truly despicable behavior.

That sounds odd to me because as a guy, he responded almost exactly the way I thought he would, especially given his usual demeanor and apparent social standing. Guys are typically taught to hide/internalize everything uncomfortable, and this is just as true for some happy go lucky California bro as it is for any other “bro”. How did your sister think he was going to respond?

She's seriously out here with the James Charles excuse "It's ok, I'm young. I don't know what I'm doing." Hmm. Yea. We all know the tea analogy, right? If they aren't awake enough to drink a cup of tea, then don't give them a cup of tea. Unconscious people don't want tea. If they are awake and say no thank you to the tea then don't force them to drink tea, they said no.

I’m basically making my way through your whole library. You’re so funny, smart, insightful, and PEEEEETTTTTTYYYYYY! I am patiently waiting for my melting face petty merch, as that’s how these people make me feel. Thanks for always backing survivors and victims, and for holding abusive and problematic people accountable.

I’m just glad she’s technically an adult now so she can’t hide behind the “why’re y’all attacking a minor?” argument because I’m sure she’d do that; but now she’s just stating that she’s young so it’s a given that she’ll make mistakes (which SA is not an accident/mistake, there’s intention there and she needs to receive the repercussions for it). Great video overall!

Looking at this situation from the outside as someone who doesn't watch tiktok/instagram influencers, this is honestly why teenagers really shouldn't be "allowed" to just gain massive followings on social media before they've even finished high school. It's a clusterfuck of drama, abuse and scandles because they clearly cannot even handle themselves and yet they're getting brand deals, joining houses/content groups, etc. and have neither the emotional or mental maturity to handle anything that comes with it whether it is relationships, creating merch, or just handling themselves online.

Watching you address survivors in your videos always gives me feelings, but this one hit a little different. Probably because I sometimes have a hard time believing my r*pe was “bad enough”. I was blacked out drunk, still conscious, but obviously intoxicated and in no position to consent. I only remember bits and pieces of that night. I made the mistake of making a police report a few days later and the officer told me “he didn’t force the alcohol down your throat” when I was trying to explain that he kept pushing me to drink more. That has always been disturbing and traumatizing in its own way. I can’t bring myself to regret it, because on the off chance he ever hurts anyone else who reports it, my record will be there. That being said, it’s been so so so hard to talk about sometimes because so many people say that if I was conscious, it doesn’t matter that I was intoxicated. I didn’t mean for this to be so long, but thank you, Swoop, for validating my pain, and reminding me that being drunk doesn’t make what happened to me any more acceptable. ❤️

The officer who said that to you is a piece of shit. You didn't do anything wrong, it wasn't your fault, it's still "bad enough" regardless of circumstances and I'm so sorry people in your life don't understand that. As someone who's also a survivor: I'm here for you, I believe you, what happened to you *was* serious/bad enough and you deserve nothing but love, kindness and healing in your life.

Thank you Swoop. This happens so often. And I hope now that it’s talked about more people understand BOUNDARIES better. I have been SAed before. R’ed in my sleep by a best friend while I took Ambien. I woke up to him next to me and I asked why he was there. We had a “love hate” relationship where we would joke about how ugly each other were. In fact he even slept with my sister. There was no way in hell I would ever sleep with this man. When he said we slept together and laughed, I thought he was joking. It took months for me to realize I was raped. He then later on found out from someone else why I distanced myself and confronted me. My father called him and he threatens to show my father a video of him “f-ing” me in my sleep. He’s a rich kid in town. Well known family. I knew he would get away with it as usual. I had known him for almost 15 years. I remember as kids in middle school he tried to put his hand down my pants then started a rumor he fingered me. I was slut shamed for months in a catholic school. Imagine being in choir, everyone below you raising their right hand but then all of your class just raising their pointer finger because there is a rumor you got fingered by someone in class. My Mom was called by a teacher. I wasn’t allowed to have anyone over for months - even though I said no. Even though it never happened. I wish I took that as a red flag. But I didn’t. We grew up and he lost our mutual friends but I tried to prove to people he wasn’t so bad. That night I stayed over his house because I was afraid to stay in my apartment alone. I had done this before. He would usually sleep on the couch with his dog every night anyways. Later on, I spoke to his ex who was a lot younger than him. She was a SA survivor of him as well I found out and he did this to her while she would take medication or be drinking. He also abused her physically. We now communicate and support each other. That’s one good thing that came of this. I was able to help her. Along with this - so many people are pressured into sex when they really are screaming inside to get away. It’s so common in young teenagers and young adults. Especially as they start drinking and going out. Women and MEN. It’s not a gender or race thing. Everyone goes through this. Thank you for explaining this so well.

as a guy who’s had guys around me get SA’d when I wasn’t around to help them,,, this burns me to my core, because every time I hear a story like this it makes me feel the same way because they’re almost NEVER public about it and they almost never face consequences. Especially when it’s a girl who’s the perpetrator… ESPECIALLY when it’s a girl they dated/were assumed to be dating. I have this protector instinct to try and protect people, and when I can’t it tears me apart. I’d imagine that’s how Jack’s friends felt while they were trying to look after him, and I can only imagine how frustrating it is for jack - on top of the trauma it may have caused to him personally - and his friends because they know the truth, and she still doesn’t feel bad.
