@skylandersgiants55045 жыл бұрын
Bernardo Caldeira they secrete acid which ruins the silk, the moths die in a few days anyway so it’s not really worth trying to let the worms live. The worms also dissolve themselves inside the cocoon before becoming a moth so they won’t feel anything

@@skylandersgiants5504 yup, much more humane than letting them hatch & die of starvation, having metamorphosed into a moth with no mouth
@lilaclizard45045 жыл бұрын
@Catch_Me_If_You_Can yes, they don't need a mouth after they cocoon, their only purpose at that stage of life is to mate & lay eggs & so evolution has removed all organs that take up space that could otherwise be filled with more eggs. I can definitely confirm this, because my last batch a couple of them seemed to still be large in their abdomens after dying, so I cut them open in case there were still eggs in there I could get out to hatch & there is NOTHING in there other than an egg chamber. Some of my boys took over 2 weeks to starve to death :'( It's so sad to watch! I never know what's best to do with them when they're like that

Working for low wages is way worse than being killed. Got it. Regardless dude, this video doesn't address how much they make. It's about the silkworms. It makes no sense to expect people to talk about every tangentially related issue in every video. You're using a red herring.
@TheEpicnesscontained6 жыл бұрын
wtf do you mean 'tangentially related', this video isn't just about the silkworms, its about the PROCESS of making silk and the human workers are just a much a part of the process as the silk worms. If you argue for the 'rights' of the caterpillars but not the rights of the human workers who often work in inhumane conditions to make this silk then your argument as well as your logic is flawed.
@lolacabana1235 жыл бұрын
Wow, I'd never thought I'd see the day that people were comparing human life, to that of an insect. The process of harvesting the silk is unfortunate for the worms, for sure, and if given the chance to put an end to it, I'd support it whole heartedly.
