In this inspiring and motivational talk, Sebastian Linda shows how skateboarding trained and taught him about his approach to life. Thereby, he transforms the trying and failing of skateboarding to his creative work as an audiovisual artist. In his presentation, Sebastian shows how to embrace what you love to do and how it helps you to become what you want to become. Sebastian Linda is a passionate audiovisual artist and motivational speaker.
At the age of 12, Sebastian produced his first short movies, thereby teaching himself camera, audio and cutting on video recorders and VHS tapes. In his studies of media production he finalized his first full-length movie “Born to Skate”.
Among many other awards and nominates, Sebastian won the Web Video Award 2014 in the category “Action”, with his movie “Revenge of the Beasts” about a skate adventure to Indonesia. In the three following years he could win the Web Video Award again: for the follow up “The Journey of the Beasts”, for the movie “Life is a Dance“ - a declaration of love to his Saxon home and for his movie "Memento Mori" about the mindfulness of death. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

"We live in a one try society" is such a great observation. No matter what you love to do remmber Frank Zappa's 2 rules for success... 1. Don't stop 2. Keep going

I burst into tears at the sound of those happy children with the skateboard, and I just kept saying YES YES YES to the universe. That is the feeling I remember as a child. Time to step out of this matrix and go skating

Fantastic and inspiring! Having personally experienced the school system trying to prevent me from doing the things i dreamt at a young age, but anyhow succeeded and achieved the things i dreamt and more. I too credits my experience in skateboarding to be the driving factor in my development. My friends from when we where young and skated everyday together are all doing what they dreamt like, artists, musicians, designers etc. Professions the school would never aspire us to achieve. Thank you skateboarding culture

The best feeling ever is hopping on that board and letting it take you wherever your imagination desires. It's one of those things in life that is constantly teaching about commitment, creativity and challenges we desire to overcome. Trying something new with fire in your eyes and that child like wonder i grasped with my heart as a kid!

I don't skate often anymore but will forever identify strongly with the culture of skateboarding. It's one of those things that never leaves you once it's there. Taught me so much in life and will always be thankful for what skateboarding has done for me
