I am one of your female subs, and I thank you for this video. I dont agree with the victim blaming, but I understand you want to do your part keep solo travelers safe. It doesnt matter what time of day I went out to eat...

This guy is right. Even Chinese women can encounter such situations sometimes, although I haven't personally seen it happen. After all, the world isn't perfect.

I like the insight, and I agree - mostly common sense, but also culturally aligned. Appreciate you putting this video out. Keep up the awesome work!

Too exaggerated. Going to a bar solo, no matter male or female, or which country, is always risky. But it is much less risky in China than in other countries. Spike drink is never heard of in China.

Sounds like you're trying to put China up on a shining pedestal, with no proof whatsoever to back up your claims.

LMAO. I wouldn't trust anyone with my drink in any tourist/red light district in Asia not even in Japan.
@user-wu6fk6dg5b2 ай бұрын
There is no red light area in China city.
@chopsticksandtrains2 ай бұрын
There sort of are actually - near many train stations in China (especially in smaller cities) there sometimes tend to be areas similar to red light districts. Also many Chinese cities have areas with a higher concentration of sketchy massage places. But those aren't areas where you'd hang out, or find a popular bar - so you wouldn't generally be drinking in those areas.

really good advice

Your safety travel tips are very helpful. I was brought up to always be aware of my situation. I think crowds are one of the most dangerous situations and to always maintain a position on the edge of the crowd and constantly monitor those around you is vital. I had a "tourist" type moment of awe struck in times square and immediately found a guy in my face trying to sell me something. Whoops! When I stay vigilant I never have a problem.

Most of these are things I practice in any country including my own. Just plain smart advice. Unfortunately most women have some experience with these situations, but wherever you go be smart & use common sense!! Thanks for another great video 🐲🐉🐦🔥🎋🎍

All these safety tips are good, though I think the bigger question on many people's minds is: For the sake of argument, if something bad were to happen to them, how is the government going to handle the news reporting on the incident, and what recourse do they have (if any) to justice or compensation?
@chopsticksandtrains2 ай бұрын
My take on it is that the news would be, well, nonexistent. I don't think it would be kept quiet because China doesn't want that kind of bad publicity (especially now when they are trying to revive their tourism sector). As far as recourse/justice/compensation, it's really hard to say. If a local injured a foreign woman, chances are, he'd be in at least some trouble. As far as any specifics, it's too subjective to try to address here.

@@chopsticksandtrains Sometimes it's good to do research or just say that you don't know due to lack of knowledge. The recent knife attack on four American college instructors in Northern China proves the opposite with the story being all over Chinese news, as well as mentioning the four Americans being compensated, although I haven't heard about the Chinese man who got stabbed in order to disarm the attacker getting compensation but that prolly happened as well. In addition, the prosecution proceedings are also underway for the assailant.
