Foley artist Shaun Brennan, who’s worked on projects like “The Purge: Election Year” and “Red Dead Redemption,” showed us how some of the most crucial sounds in a fight scene are done. Sometimes, you need a piece of raw meat, or a stick of celery to get just the right sounds. Other times, a few real swords are all you need.

I always wanted to do movies, ever since I was a kid. But I didn't want to act. I wanted to do the sounds for the movies. I was always fascinated with how they make the sounds with random objects, ever since I first found out they recorded normal sounds from random objects. First time I learned about it, was someone who was explaining when they made the sound of a dog walking and their nails clacking on the sidewalk, it was paper clips attached to the fingers of dishwashing gloves. I was blown away and hooked since then.
