Soviet space propaganda art is my favourite artform, love the scientific optimism and the awe they exude

Soviet art as a whole was so interesting! The incredible vision they had while having to follow such intense state guidelines in art style created something special

Fantastic video, you got me crying about the Soviet Union again. I've always loved Soviet representations of space. Like when I was a kid, my favorite cartoon was the Mystery of the Third Planet (Тайна третьей планеты) which encapsulates that Soviet space aesthetic so beautifully. Plus it's just a wholesome and interesting story in addition to being very aesthetically beautiful, as many Soviet cartoons are.

This is one of the few videos that speak about this so I’m glad that the quality is there from start to finish. Soviet art has always had a great flair to it and the space race propaganda is, in my opinion, one of the best artistic collections that have ever been made by a nation, the color palettes are perfect, the themes are flawlessly expressed, etc.; subscribed, hope your channel goes big!

I have a soft spot for space age media and art. From the launch of Sputnik to the Challenger disaster the public energy and interest in space travel was insatiable. The sky was no longer the limit, humanity had touched the heavens and would go beyond. Some of the art and media holds up very well but some things, like these Soviet pieces make my heart ache a little. There's a filk album released in 1983 called Minus Ten and Counting, which contains a song called "Fly Columbia," about the space shuttle Columbia. They couldn't have known that a few short years later the Challenger would break up, and the Columbia would follow. Media so desperately full of hope and joy and adoration for what the future may hold, and yet I am here in the future, and it is not that. There will be no Soviet space utopia, the Columbia, the courier of dreams shattered and the shuttle program with it. I'm in college studying physics right now, and sometimes it's hard to remember why I chose this, but it was these dreams, even in pieces. The science and math is endlessly fascinating, but it will always be fueled by dreams. Since the beginning of time humans have looked to the sky, from the cave paintings in Lascaux to Nicole Stotts paintings from the ISS, humanity dreams of the stars, we always have and always will. The stories will change but the dream will never die.

You can imagine a kid reading the magazines, looking at the illustrations thinking I am going to be a scientist/ engineer and make this happen. It probably helped their space race inspiring the population like that. Even if reality was far from it.

Not fully Soviet related, but there this very obscure Hungarian movie ''Les Maîtres du temps (1982)'' that very inspired by this whole Future of Space travel visuals of this art pieces. Also i couldn't even find Rus. Subs for it before, so iam pretty sure Eng. Subs probably don't exist too, but its still super pretty to look at.

Hi! I really loved this video, as for I have a deep mental connection to soviet arts and music, and above all to space aestethics. I would love to know, where can I find more of this type of art? Google gives me very unsatisfactory results when I input "socialist realism", or such, only a few examples seemingly repeating. Where do you find art of this type?

My family from the eastern bloc were engineers and scientists. No one in my family sided with Bolsheviks. We still despise them for their drama, death toll and meddling.

Always great to find content about the Soviet Union from a western source that isn't insanely biased against socialism or straight up just regurgitating debunked Cold War propaganda
