How did Squad 0 survive their encounter with Yhwach and his Wandenreich (Quincy) army? In the Bleach manga, Squad 0 was completely destroyed by Yhwach and the Sternritter. But later in the Bleach Light Novel "Can't Fear Your Own World" (CFYOW), we learn that it wasn't the whole story.

In the case of their fight, it's actually his "Auswählen". The Scuthzstaffel were literally died until Yhwach did that technique to revive them. It's such a slap to the zero squad.

How come everyone forgets the fact that Oetsu literally One-Shotted the 3/4 of the Quincy Elites and still killed Askin despite having his blood become lethal dosed. That’s when Yhwach Hax Asspull came in and pulled a revive. Mind you The Elites still have their Quincy Abilities prior to the revive (I’m not talking Vollstandig) Which means Oetsu Killed Gerard Before his Miracle could activate, Killed Lille before he could activate X-axis, and killed Pern as he was about to activate. I respect that Oetsu ain’t that typical ass character that waits for you to power up and just goes straight to business. Mans is clearly underrated.

We didn't forget that's the main reason why people don't like them. They were hyped up to be gods and get slaughtered. The writing of all them was honestly terrible besides jimbei his fight was good. They were honestly well made characters that were destined to die because of how he rushed them into the plot with time constraints. Like it went like this. Oetsu 1 shots them for 0 reason by far the weakest 1 survives for no reason has a whole not needed fight they get revived then die off screen. The pretty much suppose to be strongest shinigami fights the Quincy lord the fight was good but the ending was bad. Then they are to be never seen again.

Quiet One Let’s Keep it 100 tho you can’t blame the character for being written badly that falls onto the shoulders of the writer itself and how rushed that shit was. I’m confident enough to say Zero Squad HAD THE POTENTIAL to be written properly but weren’t because Plot was against them Cuz that would mean the whole Soul Society Gang that pulled up at soul palace versus Yhwach. Instead Kubo changed it into small group fights. Ichibei is unique in that he can restore himself using his own power posthumously. After being blow apart by Yhwatch he had Ichigo say his name and he was resurrected. According to the wikki this power is actually separate from the Soken power.

Anyone who thinks squad zero was sad, totally missed how they made that invasion force need a max revive and a decimation of their own army to add their power to their own to continue. It wasn’t a drawn out dragon ball z fight (thank goodness) but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t intense. Most do not realize that samurai fights are actually not meant to be drawn out battles. And like the Zero Squad fight, it’s a few exchanges of devastating strikes and parries to lethal strike at and end the opponent in seconds. Granted, different people have a different take on the story and don’t enjoy that kind of sophistication. Some people can only enjoy grape juice with all of its sugary sweetness, and the complexity of wine is lost on them.

Story progression does not always mean ultimate power expressions. Bayukya had so much power in his Shikai alone that it was like his original Bankai, and now what could his Bankai actually look like? But it was not shown. It did not need to show it. Sometimes it’s just to get across a point and Bleach itself is not about dragon ball z level battles. Yeah every once in a while a display of raw power is great but it has mostly been about technique when it comes to the majority of the cast. Characters had to outsmart adversaries whose abilities were specialized and unfortunately the characters were deep within the area of effect where the specialty ability was its most dangerous. Like I said in my original post. Not everyone is capable of enjoying sophistication. Some people are bored with “realistic” application as they are more for the raw “I am Strong! Watch me crush everything you have” stories. I am honestly glad Bleach is not like that. That could be why Ichigo is not my favorite character also as his abilities are based in just increasing his energy output. They were not as technical as Bayukya, Urahara, or Yuroichi. Yeah they were strong but they relied on skill, figuring out the enemy, and out smarting their opponent. So as it pertains to Zero Squad, the story was not based on displays of power as each character had a niche ability. Like anything else under the sun, once you figure out how something works, it makes it easier to dismantle it. And from the beginning they did say that they were watching Soul society for years from a shadow dimension to understand how they work. For all who are not military influenced, intelligence is key. The more you know about your enemy, the easier it is to bring them down and with less effort. The Quincy had about a thousand years to plan from their first interaction 1000 years before. This is all story telling though and clearly some people only watch anime for the cheap flashy thrills.

kaputasri I can say it’s sophisticated based on the nature of what bleach has been through out the entire series. Fate Stay is a completely different beast of a story. Those characters can go all out as they technically never truly die. Those battles are even based in a completely different rule system for their reality. Bleach characters get exhausted and can actually die. So each step must be calculated. Look at the fight between Bayukya and the Executioner member with the “Book of the End” power. Kuchiki had to out smart his opponent to use his ability in a literal new way to defeat him. It was compelling story wise. Kenpachi’s Fight on the other hand was as boring as he himself said it was. It then became a moment of comedy in the story. The sophistication is in how the story is unravelled, and Bleach is not a story about flashy battles like Fate Stay. They do have them, but it is more of the application of those abilities and how the characters deal with the ordeal. Kenpachi is the real dbz styled character and he gets destroyed by technical characters that his raw power can’t reach. Bleach has a sophistication that does not always bring “flash and bang” and that is what allows it to really shine. It gives us the game of chess played by Samurai, and even uses special abilities to enhance that game to new levels. And I say Samurai because there is that little reference in the story about Bankais getting damaged or broken. It’s “permanent “ damage so each Shinigami must train to use their sword/Bankai ability correctly or risk it being damaged beyond compare. It’s even cooler to see the types of connections each character has with their sword ability. I Genuinely see Bleach as a action story with enough flash, strategy, and reality that it really becomes a distinguished story. I know not everyone will see what I see, and not everyone can see what I see in the bleach anime. And that is okay. Hopefully by sharing these elements, people have a chance to try and see another perspective other than there own when they just see it as garbage.

As others have mentioned the zero squad is fine. The fact that they have this immortality makes them in most cases broken; its their opponents that were the problem. Yhwatch literally supercharged his elites with the rest of his armies life force. This was not just couple hundred soldiers either but thousands including some sternritter. None of these hopped up power houses went down without rolling some named characters with them. In fact one never lost and one is still alive and at large according to the novels

According to their power and hype, their defeat wasn't a statement of insufficient power. The Elites have absurd power which can be lethal to anyone. Nimayah was put down by Lille cuz no one knew what he could really do. I could see the others trying to dodge and fail because he can only be aim dodged. Remember when Shunsui tried to dodge it for the 1st and only time without using any of his shikai abilities, he still got hit, so I'm guessing both Lille and Pernida were the MVP. And lets face it, if Pernida decided to sneak attack Kenpachi with a head strike, he's dying, wether in bankai or not and I believe the zero squad is still superior to the current gotei. The captains got by mainly because of plot, imagine a cluster of captains with a cluster of these quincy where anyone can attack anyone at anytime. Whoever Lille aims at dies immediately, whoever tries to attack Lille dies or loses an arm or leg and whoever attacks Askin is a sitting duck. Squad 0 was seen as a quick wash with zero knowledge and the captains were fortunate enough to learn about their abilities nd devised a way to deal with them.

Yeah people tend to forget about this. Battles were not mainly about powers and talents, its also about the information you have, and how you are able to effectively and efficiently use your talents and powers to the fullest together with the right mindset. Its like in sports, you can have the talent, but what's the point of it if you don't put it into good use and moreover develop it. Bleach was able to show this importance in battles even with some of its weak points. Best example would be Kenpachi vs Gremmy

Yhwach was a piece of the soul king, and he was strategic during the whole war. But the soul king probably saw these events eons ago so he allowed himself to be split up by the creators of soul society and since what was left of yhwach was used to be the new soul king, everything was back in place

Here after watching the cour 2 finale that introduced us all to Senjumaru's bankai and its amazing to see how all of it was spontaneosly added and executed. The manga led us all to believe Squad 0 was weak as shit but the new episode showed Senjumaru's bankai alone was able to disrput all 3 worlds. I'm so glad they expanded more on squad 0 in the anime. I think Kubo just thought, what if Aizen fought for the shinigami, wouldn't that be cool? So he worked from there and had to create a character that needed to be stronger than Aizen after he fused with his zanpakuto and thr hougyoku. Also, the arc was Ishida focused, so the new bad had to be related to the Quiencies (with Rukia, Orihime and Sado having one arc focused around them).

People love saying they got washed, oetsu blitzed them by himself. They legit got a boost I'm power, than activated there haxed ability. Oetsu was also confident in cutting yhwach up. The others we can say we don't know how they died and the rushing of the writing. But we got to give them more credit, the gotei was struggling against regular fighters. Yhwach legit was like let's leave before squad zero comes and his shrift almighty is really what saved him

I concur. The readers overlooked a lot of Zero Division feats, only they could have performed. Ouestu's performance was outstanding. So was Ichibei. The Zero Division displayed their strength in a wide variety of ways. Byakuya was a goner had it not been for Kirinji's hot springs and healing techniques. He literally performed a blood transfusion on Byakuya. Kirio Hikifune helped bolster the spiritual pressures of Renji, Rukia and Ichigo with her reishi infused food. This was so they could withstand Ichibei and Ouestu's training. I'm assuming Byakuya received the same treatment, if not greater, as someone who is of Royal heritage. Senjumaru assisted with the finest shinigami robes, which have protection properties, increasing their overall resilience to damage in battle. Ichibei highlighted each of their weaknesses and what they need to work on, in order to get stronger. Ouestu re-forged Ichigo's Zangpak, and opened his eyes to the true nature of his power, and what he really is. None of them would have survived without the aid of the Zero Division.

Who beat the entire 13 squads single handedly without breaking a sweat? Aizen. He literally soloed all of them basically with his bare hands. Aizen in base form was already far beyond any of the captains even combined. There is absolutely no reason to assume that any of squad zero would have a chance against him, even if he didn't use Kyouka Suigetsu.

@@gh0un The Elite Sternritter we’re beaten through circumstance (Lile and Gerald) while the others weren’t overpowered, they were outsmarted or out skilled despite their overwhelming powers. Shunsui was saved by Nanoe and her plot device sword Gerald had to be killed by Ywach to be permanently defeated. Kisuke has shown to be above majority of the other captains as well Mayuri not only had help but fought a battle of progression, allowing him to survive as long as he did and the fact he is the most ingenuity captain next to Aizen and Kisuke. Same, I read a lot of comments in other video where people say that sternritter had plot armor but it's not true. They already lost one time so it was obvious that they would have been prepared well to fight them again, they collected a lot of data while shinigami had nothing about them. For lille shunsui needed nanao's help to defeat him; for gerard even using the strongest bankai techniques of byakuya, toshiro and kenpachi didn't kill gerard; mayuri defeated pernida with nemu's sacrifice and for askin urahara needed grimmjow's help. Nimaya killed them 3 of them alone and askin with tenjiro's support. The only problem was yhwach who resurrected them.

@@rjofusetsudzin8011 exactly, Nimaiya beat 4 of them without them having the chance to use their schrift & becomes stronger. Quick & effective until Yhwach pulled his Auswählen to revive them. Meanwhile the Gotei 13 had to beat them with the need at least 1 other person to help them. That too with very peculiar tricks & still 2 of them weren't completely died lol. In conclusion, Gotei 13 were not strong enough to defeat them instantly, which made them able to use their special powers & attacks against their enemies. Whereas Nimaiya alone can kill them quickly lol.

The problem is that we were told the the five members of squad zero are stronger than the 13 captains but when the fighting started they got decimated off screen and then the job of cleaning up went to the regular 13 captains that we were told are weaker than squad zero. So the problem is that we were told that they are overpowered but we did not see it, imagine if someone said Aizen is very powerful but then he gets defeated off screen same thing here

I think the major issue with this arc was that all the fights could be the same divided into 3 categories of bullshit- 1. Combatants essentially pulling a bunch of reverse uno cards until one of them drops. 2. Combatants with specific power gimmicks taking it to parody-isque levels: "I can now frighten inanimate objects, I can now freeze fear itself, I could cut all matter now I can cut vacuum, I can transcend common sense until plot says otherwise" and 3. "I knew you would use this particular unforseen 'batshit hax' so I conveniently created this particular 'batshit hax'-countering device which was never hinted at before".

Which means, Asauchi is not the only way for shinigami to create zanpakuto. The only thing I like is one the leader of the zero division and what they all didn't for soul society. What I don't get is that if they are immortal then Kubo missed a opportunity to use that in the war being as we know they are strong as the former first division captain. Yet why hold that back they could've look weak by getting wreck but if they are immortal then they all could've came back and showed us why they are truly the zero division. Yet being basically rush make you do a lot of mistakes. Hopefully it goes differently with Burn the Witch.
