This presentation discusses the triggers and warning signs of stress and its impact on your health and functioning. It will also briefly touch on how COVID-19 has magnified the problem. Several evidence-based techniques to help you manage stress or life challenges more effectively will be provided.
Dr. George Kaoukis is a licensed clinical psychologist and on the Canadian Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. He is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Manitoba and Director of the Cardiac Psychology Service at St. Boniface Hospital and for the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA). He has developed the WRHA’s psychological screening and treatment program for cardiac patients and has presented and published papers on cardiac psychology, psychological service delivery models for cardiac patients, and the role of stress and psychological factors in chronic illnesses such as cardiovascular disease. Much of Dr. Kaoukis’ clinical work at the hospital and in his private practice focuses on treating individuals who have difficulty adjusting to their medical or cardiac condition.
