I stumbled onto baki watching the old arcs on youtube a number of years back and seeing Oliva show up in a yujiro flashback and Yujiro being like I"m not gunna fuck with this guy made him probably the character i wanted to see more of the most. Then years later he shows up in the netflix speaking to yujiro nearly as a peer and bodying people. I start watching readings of the manga on LR shion's channel and getting all the details and learning about the lore. As the prisoner arc then unfortunately the sumo arc the series started to wane for me with the exception of the Yujiro fight (lets be real). I can't say its because they did Oliva dirty but it does sync up. I do still always get a chuckle about random americans knowing so much about Musashi Miyamoto again and again, i'm sure the japanese are well versed on davy crockett haha,

Oliver can take shotgun blasts but from a ballistics perspective it’s not that impressive, well for a human it is but for bullet proof armor it isn’t. Shotguns don’t work the same way as other guns. Most of the time they are shooting small pellets which are not good for penetration but spread out a lot of power. Because of the spread it’s easier to absorb the blast. But if you aren’t wearing protection it would mess you up. Oliver’s muscles stopped the shots pretty well but even a 9mm would go deeper simply because it’s one bigger, sharper round penetrating flesh. I think his muscles would still stop it though. Not a super expert but I think anything above 556 would start to hurt Oliver enough to make him want to avoid getting shot.

In the real world sumo gets destroyed by just about every other martial art, even if it is a technique, against other techniques its pretty bad. Not only that but strongmen can also compete pretty well against sumo wrestlers. What this all means is that sumo as a "technique" really only works against sumo meaning Oliva getting completely bodied is just plot armor and a half. I agree that relying solely on strength is kind of crap in a series revolving around martial arts but hey, if it worked for The Hulk why shouldn't it work here? Everyone loves the Hulk and everyone loves Oliva.

It's a pecking order they been doing that since the start the later arcs just show people getting further. For instance ali jr got handled by jack. Pickle makes it damn near to yujiro. Musashi then matches pickle in strength. Baki then comes along and levels up right in pickles face and didnt even use his demon back or deadliest attacks which is confirmed by his fight with yujiro when he says he never could fight with anyone unrestricted because his techniques would kill a normal person. It's just how the show goes I really feel like olivia being within the top ten strongest on the show without having any martial arts in a martial arts show is pretty generous tbh.

I think the anime tried to fix the gps bullshit, but it still doesn’t make sense. They state that if they move faster than walking speed the gps screws up. I think oliva is much stronger than we've seen, however he is just not much of a fighter. He has some techniques and definitely good strategy, but he usually prefers to go for mindless tanking and superior striking power to win fights, given that there's very few characters who are on that tier of just raw power, so he usually doesn't need to resort to anything else. Once challenged on his own turf there's little he can do about it, because he is not used to it, and his training is really more muscle training than fighting, because as he himself said, his body has not been made for fighting, but rather to be able to carry Maria, and that, to me, is much more impressive than any fighter's feats

I think there are ways to beat Oliva outside of pure strength, I completely forgot this happened but, Gouki did aiki the shit out if Oliva, and even as Oliva says "turned my right wrist into a pretzel," hell in the prison arc its implied baki could beat him with technique, but says it wouldnt really matter unless he beat him in a raw punch out. That being said I want real match between Gouki and Oliva, it could probably be either one of the most wacky tacky fights in the series fight wise behind Baki v Yujiro, or one of the most brutal fights in the series. But that will probably never happen because its so off the wall even for Baki.

I think it's a shame that they have nerfed oliva or have redcoon. It was said that Biscuit is equal to Yujiro in strength and probably the only person who is so strong and can keep up with Yujuro's strength. Therefore, yujiro respects oliva. Now we see that yujiro and even baki are stronger. Not to mention faster and have techniques and are therefore much stronger than an oliva. If you already have a muscle monster like oliva and you only rely on your strength and you have absolutely no techniques and he's not fast either, then you shouldn't reduce his strength.
