I am a bit upset. Wile E vs Tom won the ballot. I really think it deserves to be done before this. I honestly feel a bit cheated by this being first. Yes, this made it tot he finals, and yes we will get Wile E vs Tom. But the fact of the matter is that Wile E vs Tom won the ballot over this, so I personally believe it should have gotten priority over this.

Try to look at that last bit from this perspective: Not only do Wily and Tom have a lot of canon to cover and it will likely be a hand-drawn animation that should take some time to be developed into the best episode it can be, but DevilArtemis has been wanting to make an animation with Asura for a long time. Hell, the moment Death Battle announced its return he immediately teased the first minute of the animation which shows the episode was already in development by the time the announcement was made. I'm sure that Wily vs Tom will happen somewhat soon, but it's okay to wait on it if it means Death Battle can make it the best it can be.

Its posible that aside the team really wanting to make it they already had something in the pre concept par of it, after all they had a teaser of it and it was one of the main things they used for the marketing. Also its very likely they are starting working on it in the serious fase, Morø said he was already given the script for his new animation recently and It could be Tom VS Coyote, at least I think the animation fits him

I gotta say, I'm personally disappointed Kratos' opponent is Asura. I don't really know or care that much about Asura's Wrath, and have been waiting for Kratos' long awaited runback to be against Dante. We could have had one of if not the single best videogame match of the show with updated power scaling and all the crazy feats over Kratos and Dante's massive history of games and other media. Instead we get Kratos vs an imitation of GOW 3 Kratos with, what, one game and a DLC's worth to draw from? If they're using everything, they're gonna have to trim the hell out of Kratos' analysis just so Asura's doesn't seem puny by comparison. I'm glad the Asura's Wrath fans are probably happy to get their boy up here, but I'm just completely and utterly whelmed by this matchup. I wish it was dropped the first time it lost the vote

@Dario-z4g Sure. Firstly, Kratos vs Dante is one of those legacy match ups of the PS2 era, with series that kind of rivaled each other as they came out, and people have talked about it for years. Admittedly this point doesn't have much substance and is more of a "this is the match up that was on my wishlist" kind of deal. I am biased and won't lie about it, but I do have reasons beyond that. Second, I feel that as a matchup, Dante and Kratos compare and contrast in much more interesting ways. They're similar in that they're both initially motivated by a trauma that drives their vengeance, but different in how they handle that trauma. Dante masks his own suffering with his cocky attitude and joking nature, whereas Kratos put all of that suffering into his rage until he later learned to control it, giving them almost opposite personalities despite the similarities in their backstories. They're similar in that they're half human hybrids with supernatural powers that they use to kill even the god tiers of their verse, but opposites in that one is a god and the other is a demon. Third, the whole god vs devil symbolism of the match is arguably interesting in its own right. Fourth, both have long running series with very deep and complex lore, leading to a bunch of different ways to scale and interpret the match based on what you buy. Fifth and most importantly, their arsenals. If we're doing composites, which DB often does, then just off their weapons, magic, and hax these two could have some of the biggest arsenals death Battle's ever covered, with so many different and unique weapons and magic that could counter each other. Time manipulation, life draining, healing factors, elemental magic, soul manipulation, death negation, reality warping, there are SO MANY things you could bring up for Kratos vs Dante that have them countering each other in interesting ways. Instead, we get diet Kratos with multiple arms that punches people. A guy that I almost only ever hear brought up for the topic of "Kratos matchups that aren't Dante". We're almost certainly not gonna get a composite Kratos or go into that much real depth with his lore or scaling because the mfer has like 8 games and a bunch of supplementary material and Asura only has the one to my knowledge. Instead of talking about how this weapon counters that and that magic counters this, we're probably gonna play the "who has the bigger numbers" game. Yippee. I'm hoping I eat my words, Death Battle has been cooking up a storm so far so I don't doubt the episode will be entertaining and the fight will be sick. I'm just disappointed we didn't have this for a matchup that has so much more to go over. It'd be like getting Superman vs Metro man instead of Goku vs Superman 3

As for Ashura to be fair i didnt play his game yet but I know the things that happen and who the final boss is wich would definetly put him in the cosmic scale. The thing is that people tend to missunderstand "Lore Kratos", they act as if the feats that he goes through or the gods that beats are in the universal side when actually they are self contained. The greek or the nordic realm are not universes but countries in the same Earth in wich their domains and powers are límites by the cultural boundaries in wich their mithologies exist meaning their power is much more limited to what most believe. I could go deeper with this but even if we try to highball this fact i dont see how Kratos can get to ranges Ashura gets. In the end It all depends on wether they have this in mind or if they agree with the scaling most give to Kratos
