Forest manager Peter Lagan is showing how we can protect wildlife populations by ensuring that forests are managed properly and only logged sustainably. By mimicking the forest’s natural processes, he’s logging in a way that ensures vital wildlife habitats are kept in tact, and making sure that the forest continues to grow back for future generations.
As part of the #OurPlanet initiative we’ve collaborated with the World Economic Forum to show what’s possible when people try to find new ways of tackling climate change and restoring nature. Stay tuned as each week we’ll be bringing you a new inspirational story!

Just an update, the 30 species of frogs was from a study by Dr. Sami Asad 2 years ago as part of his doctorate. And it is still on going. He presented his findings July 2019 with 62 species of frog so far identified in Deramakot. This over an area of about 250 hectares.

Selective havesting of trees is a sustainable method of Forest Management but the greed of the banks & the economic system encourages clear felling to get a one off cash injection followed by a couple of years of ranching and desertification of the area.
