Sorta there are limitations; from what I know usually people in Nicaragua get crypto by trading it on social platforms, such as paxful; not by buying it from things like coinbase. Theres a huge upcharge for Nicaragua on some of the platforms, around 30%. I don't do it myself though so what I know might be out of date at this point

That's FD up ,I had TDA and luckily never had issues, unfortunately they merged with Schwab and now the platform is Jank like 90,s AOL dial up bad,just moved to Fidelity but if that platform sucks I'll keep it moving

Horror story. Total BS. The reps probably looked at the low dollar amount and didn't care to investigate it further to let you know what the next steps you needed to take to get your money would be. I can only hope platforms the investment platforms I use don't do the same to me; since I'm usually outside the US.

Thats what I thought at first but it looks like the process I mentioned to get the refund isn't available until AFTER the "identity verification process" which takes 6 months. So, I have a feeling the same thing happens, even if you have thousands of dollars in the account. After all, from their perspective... you are a thief! This whole experience showed me something crazy too... I wonder how much money TDameritrade has that is from actual fraud. Because it looks like they just keep the money unless the original owner notices and jumps through a lot of hoops

Did you ever get your money back? I use to be TDAmeritrade and they moved me to Schwab. Do you know why you were flagged? I do a lot of trading with crypto and stocks as well and the family is thinking of moving to Nica or El Salvador...i would not want this to happen to me.. i hope u got your money back. So you were able to open the account from Nica or did you use a vpn from a different location to open and then tried to open your account without one from Nica?
