Umm, that whole thing about the core is completely wrong. That slab at the top is *NOT* what causes the ball to hook... If you look at other professional bowling balls, they don't even have that slab, that's pretty much unique to Storm. Its the shape of the core that causes the motion of the ball in combination with the ball's surface.

@vitruvian8807 The'yve missed quite a bit of detail in this. Take a closer look and you'll see a yellow dot about 3/8" across on the surface of these balls. That's the riser pin which locates the centre of the ball core. That pin can be located in relation to a player' axis of rotation to create a larger or smaller "wheel" within the ball. Larger distances rev up slower, smaller ones faster. It's a lot more complex than that, but I'm sure you get the idea.

In order for a ball to hook. A ball has to be custom drilled for the person who is using it. Not just anyone can make the same ball hook.
@TheDudeThatGames10 жыл бұрын
Lol, there are no pre-drilled balls.
@chow300010 жыл бұрын
There are when the customer requests them to be pre-drilled. Some companys won't drill upon request but most will provided you give them specific drilling (measurements). And of course in that case the customer needs to make sure they give the exact measurement and they (customer) assume responsibility if they give the wrong info.

its depends from wich side the ball has a "charge", the depth of the finger holes may also be considered in a shot, but usually in any bowling place the balls doenst have any specific charge at any side and they have a coventional grip. Excuse my definitions I dont know the specific word from spanish to english for grips and ball charge.

But how do they know where that puck like thing that helps bowlers curve their shot ends up if it gets all covered up? Or does its position not matter?
@janchapman1969a11 жыл бұрын
actually up until recently a bowling ball was allowed to have twelve holes. it has been reduced to eleven. you are allowed one for each finger (thats 5), then you are allowed a small "vent" hole for each finger to allow air in and out so you don't have a vacuum effect when releasing the ball, then a "weight" hole to make it legal, and before resin balls the PBS used a durometer hole above the fingers 1/16" deep to be sure the surface wasn't tampered with thats 5+5+1+1=12
@ChevyRedneckGFX2 жыл бұрын
Here in the us, you're only allowed holes that a finger will be inside. No balance holes. Also you wouldn't want a "vent hole"
@BabyPholol12 жыл бұрын
It's only if you get that specific ball. House balls usually don't have this mechanism.
@cpdf17642 жыл бұрын
Should have included that the hole werent being drilled at the factory. A normal house ball would be, but a special bowling ball like the ones featured in this wouldnt. You would get your finger/thumb width and hand span measured at a pro shop and then they would custom drill the ball for your fingers only
@suburbanhomejustin10 жыл бұрын
Now adays, for the last step you have to go to a pro shop and get the holes drilled. Storm or any other companies like Ebonite dont do predrilled anymore.
@BAMCIS134507036 жыл бұрын
Justin Fisher good predrilled is stupid
@Recon-cv1fe6 жыл бұрын
They still do; but it's too risky to have it done that way. Better to go to a pro shop
@Bradley7506212 жыл бұрын
Different companies have different ways of creating balls.. Some (the yellow pin you see in the ball) hanging outside the ball through the mold.. It is later cut off and then the ball is cut on a lathe and pretty much the same process you saw in this clip.. So, the ROSE (it's own weightblock) is hung while the ball hardens..

@ryoryox I take it you don't bowl competitively. A ball itself will last for a long period of time. If the bowl isn't resurfaced or cleaned it could soak up enough oil over time to die out.That only goes for. resin and urethane balls.The reason so many people buy so many bowling balls is for many different lane conditions. A vas arsenal will help on a sport shot.
