In high school, I tore the lateral ligament in my left knee that required surgery. My parents found a local surgeon in Pasadena. On my first visit to his office, I was in his waiting room and to pass the time, I looked for something to read. The only magazines he had were the John Birch Society, American Opinion and the Dan Smoot Report. Despite his political ideology, he performed my knee surgery perfectly and I have never had any problems with that knee.

Always good to give a report on an organization without interviewing someone from that organization. Helps keep the left-wing bias in place. Let some lefty tell what the JBS is about rather than hearing directly from the JBS.

I was raised by a lifetime member of the JBS who was for a couple of decades a paid staff member as the South Florida Coordinator for the JBS. During my teen years, I attended several years of JBS Summer Camp. My last year, I was a student speaker, speaking on the Communist evils of Rock and Roll music which promotes drugs and sex. In my 20s I was a JBS Chapter Leader. Matthew Dallek has done his research and presents an accurate description of the Birch Society. I can totally understand why my Bircher parents love/d Trump. Thank God I escaped the Bircher clutches in my late 20s. I’m 62 now and a proud Democrat.

@ljpearce5875 Well, I know people who went through nearly the exact same thing you did, and say it was the best experience of their lives and learned more about what turned out to be right than they would have ever dreamed. I guess this goes back to you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink. Years ago, I used to be Democrat, but that is before it became a radicalized off the rails crazy estremist far-left party. I know so many people who have left that party in the last 5 to 10 to 15 years, and it is going to continue as they get more extremist and authoritarian and just plain kooky.

I've been a member for 16 years. The JBS does NOT influence today's GOP. The JBS is non-partisan and never endorses candidates. In fact, the JBS could care less about either party and both of them hate the JBS.

@@sttevez Actually, the JBS dismissed the black helicopters as false and as for the UN, U.N treaties the U.S. signs supersedes federal and state laws is what the JBS was warning about. BTW, John Birch was a missionary in China when the war broke out. After saving the Doolittle flyers, Birch was commissioned a captain and spent the war behind enemy lines in China providing intelligence and a rescue network for General Chennault's flyers. Several days after the war ended Birch was murdered by a group of Chinese communists. The U.S. State Dept, which was portraying the communist leader Mao Zedong as a simple reformer, conspired with others to coverup the murder.

I read his book and I wrote him a letter. I did not see where he talked to a JBS member any where in the book. He could go to a JBS meeting and find out where we stand. You can see many of the JBS video's on this website for free. They are not hiding anything. Ric.
