BSB DNA Album is great! It has something for every mood and shows how versatile BSB is in music. And they're really flexing their vocal harmonies as they get older and minimizing the instrumentation. Now I'm a big fan of the instrumentation with the harmonies, like much of their early catalog, but I do like their vocal driven music as well. A lot of artists can't do that and it shows in a way a maturity to their sound and how they've grown up from their beginning. So I don't mind it. But the bread and butter for them is definitely when they combine their vocal power with big instrumentation. "Don't Go" is obviously a hit but I loved "Breathe" and "Chateau" in particular. And "Is It Just Me" -- love it! One of the best songs on the album in my opinion. The album really gives different nuances to what the group's into and in that way, it's never boring. For the record, "Said I Love You" is a SMASH! I would've put that out as the lead single out the gate and probably save "Don't Go" for single #3 because "Best Day" would've been my #2 ! -- But back to "Said I Love You"... the groove on that thing is sick, it sounds so fresh and it reeks of Backstreet. Same with Best Day; just killer BSB over fine-tuned modern/hip-hop 808s. Straight fire. I think everyone would have taken notice even more with those two tracks than they did with Don't Go. Songs like that rope in everyone with how fresh it is while still being completely themselves. But this was a great album. You could tell everybody got a say in what they wanted to do, and it made for one of their best works. The early stuff was amazing but they had a lot of people choosing for them. Which was okay because they chose well and made great songs. But they definitely have control of their own wheel now. You can hear it. I do wonder a bit though if they had someone choose how they harmonized back in the day compared to now when it comes to richness of their sound. Sometimes they sound like one voice and in others, you hear more of the layering harmonies. It still sounds good, but it does throw me a little bit. Curious to hear what other BSB and music fans think. I definitely have to buy this album.
